Evidence against the use of surrogates for biomonitoring of Neotropical floodplains
André Andrian Padial,André Andrian Padial,Steven Declerck,Luc De Meester,Claudia Costa Bonecker,Fábio Amodêo Lansac-Tôha,Luzia Cleide Rodrigues,Alice Takeda,Sueli Train,Luiz Felipe Machado Velho,Luis Mauricio Bini +10 more
TL;DR: The low and temporally variable levels of community concordance cast doubts on the use of surrogate groups for biodiversity management in Neotropical floodplains.
Journal ArticleDOI
EFFECTS OF TEMPERATURE ON DECOMPOSITION OF A POTENTIAL NUISANCE SPECIES: THE SUBMERGED AQUATIC MACROPHYTE Egeria najas PLANCHON (HYDROCHARITACEAE)
TL;DR: The effect of temperature on weight loss and chemical composition of detritus of the submerged aquatic macrophyte Egeria najas Planchon (Hydrocharitaceae) and a significant difference between the decomposition rates at the two temperatures was indicated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Community size can affect the signals of ecological drift and niche selection on biodiversity
Tadeu Siqueira,Victor S. Saito,Luis Mauricio Bini,Adriano S. Melo,Adriano S. Melo,Danielle Katharine Petsch,Danielle Katharine Petsch,Victor Lemes Landeiro,Kimmo Tolonen,Jenny Jyrkänkallio-Mikkola,Janne Soininen,Jani Heino +11 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that ecological drift may drive variation in some small communities by changing the expected outcome of niche selection, increasing the chances of species with low abundance and narrow distribution to occur in some communities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Focando na variação: Métodos e aplicações do conceito de diversidade beta em ecossistemas aquáticos
Adriano S. Melo,Fabiana Schneck,Luiz Ubiratan Hepp,Nadson Ressyé Simões,Tadeu Siqueira,Tadeu Siqueira,Luis Mauricio Bini +6 more
TL;DR: Progress in the last decade has been made in the development both of methods and of hypotheses about the origin and maintenance of variation in community composition, and these are reviewed by using case studies in aquatic ecosystems.
Journal ArticleDOI
The study of aquatic macrophytes in Neotropics: a scientometrical view of the main trends and gaps
TL;DR: A scientometrics analysis of the scientific production devoted to Neotropical macrophytes in an attempt to find the main trends and gaps of researches concerning this group showed that Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Chile were the most productive among Neotropic countries.
