Genome of Herbaspirillum seropedicae Strain SmR1, a Specialized Diazotrophic Endophyte of Tropical Grasses

Fábio O. Pedrosa, +81 more
- 12 May 2011 -
TL;DR: The genome sequence revealed that H. seropedicae is a highly versatile microorganism with capacity to metabolize a wide range of carbon and nitrogen sources and with possession of four distinct terminal oxidases, suggesting a high potential to interact with host plants.
Journal ArticleDOI

The induction of sporulation in the aquatic fungus blastocladiella emersonii is dependent on extracellular calcium

TL;DR: Calcium that is accumulated during growth is not sufficient or is not mobilized to initiate sporulation, and a calcium influx is likely to occur by type II calcium channel functions, essential for the response to nutritional starvation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phosphate limitation induces sporulation in the chytridiomycete Blastocladiella emersonii

TL;DR: It is concluded that the determination of growth or sporulation in this microorganism is linked to phosphate availability when other nutrients are not limiting, which provides a new tool for the dissection of nutrient-energy and signal pathways in cell growth and differentiation.

Isolation and partial characterization of homologous sequences of ribosomal genes (rDNA) in Blastocladiella emersonii

TL;DR: This work isolated and started to characterize a clone that contains a ribosomal sequence from the aquatic fungus B. emersonii, Be97M20, and found several sites for the restrition enzymes Eco RI, HindIII and SalI.
