Journal ArticleDOI

A rapid screening multi-electrode method for the evaluation of corrosion inhibitors

TL;DR: In this paper, a method is described for the rapid screening of water-soluble corrosion inhibitors, which involves a fixed potential being applied between identical electrodes while immersed in an inhibitor solution, and the electrochemical response of the anodic and cathodic reactions, with and without the inhibitor, is then compared.
Journal ArticleDOI

A closer look at constituent induced localised corrosion in Al-Cu-Mg alloys

TL;DR: The role of constituent intermetallic particles in the pitting corrosion of aluminium (Al) alloys is well recognised in this paper, however the complexity of Al-alloy microstructures warrants further attention.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new high-throughput method for corrosion testing

TL;DR: In this article, a new, rapid, high-throughput corrosion testing method is described, together with a computerised optical analysis method for quantification of the corrosion data, and demonstrated for aluminium alloy AA2024-T3.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-throughput channel arrays for inhibitor testing: Proof of concept for AA2024-T3

TL;DR: In this article, a high-throughput test has been developed for screening aqueous corrosion inhibitors on aluminium AA2024-T3, which adapts basic microfluidic technology to create multiple channels in polydimethylsiloxane, allowing solutions to flow over the surface of the alloy, causing severe corrosion within hours if no inhibitor is present.
