Serat optik  merupakan media transmisi yang dapat menyalurkan informasi dengan kapasitas besar dan teknologinya disebut JARLOKAF (Jaringan Lokal Akses Fiber). Salah satu perkembangan JARLOKAF yaitu FTTH (Fiber To The Home). Pembangunan jaringan FTTH menggunakan teknologi GPON. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka dilakukan analisis jaringan FFTH berteknologi GPON dengan parameter daya transmisi di Optical Line Terminal, daya receiver, redaman kabel serat optik, konektor, passive splitter, dan sambungan. Hal tersebut dilakukan dengan metode link power budget. Setelah itu dilakukan pengembangan jaringan FTTH dengan merancang jalur distribusi sebanyak tiga opsi dan menganalisis menggunakan metode link power budget  dan rise time budget. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa daerah Meranti dengan 40 pelanggan terakhir memiliki Pr sensitivitas rata-rata uplink (downlink), yakni -23,8 dBm (-23,6 dBm) sehingga margin daya yang didapatkan adalah 4,1 dBm untuk uplink dan 4,3 dBm untuk downlink. Sedangkan pada perencanaan pengembangan jaringan Meranti didapatkan bahwa opsi kedua menjadi opsi yang terbaik dengan jarak total 5,422 km memiliki Pr sensitivitas terbesar, yakni -25,8 dBm untuk uplink dan -25,2 dBm untuk downlink sehingga margin daya yang didapatkan adalah 2,2 dBm untuk uplink dan 2,8 untuk downlink dan rise time total sebesar 0,258 ns untuk uplink dan 0,283 ns untuk downlink.

An InGaAs PIN-diode based with H-I characteristics broadband traveling-wave switch

Internet, multimedia, tele-medicine and distant learning were the few high speed services offered to the end-user by a broadband access network. Optical fibres are used in the Fiber To The Home (FTTH) architecture to replace the metallic cables partially or completely to the end-user. The performance of the FTTH architecture was improved by implementing various coding schemes and modulation formats. In this paper, FTTH architecture with the Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) based OCDMA (Optical Code Division Multiple Access) network was proposed. The reliability of the communication between appropriate transmitter and receiver is analysed. OCDMA offers high reliability communication in the FTTH architecture.

Avalanche Photodiode based on InGaAs/InP was chosen because of the needs of high-speed optical receivers and have their own advantages on high sensitivity. In this project, we focused on the effect of guard ring on InGaAs/InP avalanche photodiodes and its performance. Two types of guard ring structures are designed in APD and their current-voltage (I-V) characteristics (electric field profiles) are simulated and analysed. This paper investigates the effects of guard-ring (GR) structures on the performance of InGaAs/InP avalanche photodiodes (APDs). Two type InGaAs/InP-APDs based on P+/N-well guard ring and n+/p-substrate guard ring are designed and their electric field profiles are simulated and analyzed. Current current-voltage characteristics (I-V characteristics) are measured and compared.

InGaAs/InP avalanche photodiode performance effect using variation guard ring structures

This paper proposed a design of SDR Silicon IMPATT diode in lateral structure and analyzes the variable junction temperature analysis in Silicon IMPATT diode. The simulation on the effect of junction temperature on electric field and carrier mobility is carried out for Si SDR IMPATT structure designed at D-band frequency. Result show that electric field increases while the carrier mobility decreases in higher junction temperature.

Since the beginning of the new millennium, dramatic changes in the telecommunication can be seen and have far reaching implications using optical fibers. The Internet is developed rapidly as higher bandwidth can be achieved with optical fibers with unlimited capabilities. As these potential evolve, optical network characteristic change to meet traffic demand. In this paper, a focus should be on the design and analysis of Fiber To The Home (FTTH) based on OCDMA structure. Optical code division multipleaccess (OCDMA) now deserves revisit for a powerful alternative in FTTH. This paper first introduces the basic of optical networks. Then, it roughly explains the type of system available for common optical network. Finally, we will explain and show analysis about OCDMA which is most promising structure to be implementing in FTTH.

Fiber To The Home (FTTH) Design and Analysis using OCDMA Structure

In this paper presented an investigation on I-V characteristic for CMOS PIN Photodiode. PIN diodes are 
widely used in optics and microwave circuits as it acts as a current controlled resistor at these frequencies. PIN diode 
performance is greatly influenced by the geometrical size of the device, especially in the intrinsic region. Two different 
I-layer thickness of PIN diode structure has been designed using Sentaurus Technology Computer Aided Design 
(TCAD) tools. The I-layer thickness (or width) is varied from 4 µm to 8 µm in order to investigate its effects on the 
current-voltage (I-V) characteristics. These structures were design based on CMOS process.

An Investigation on I-V Characteristic for CMOS PIN Photodiode: Variable I-Layer

A high conversion efficiency rectenna at 2.45 GHz is proposed in this paper. Two layers low cost FR-4 substrate has been used to fabricate the rectenna. The proposed designs contain patch antenna and open stub rectifying circuits. The dimension for the proposed rectenna design is 100 x 100 x 5 mm3. The technique of air gap approach has been used in order to increase gain of the antenna. The ground plane is added with the triangular slot has eliminate second and third harmonics which results enhancement of the conversion efficiency. The measured conversion efficiency reaches 79.29% when the input power at 17 dBm. This rectenna takes advantages of low profile, easy integration, high gain and high power conversion efficiency from previous proposals.

In this paper, CMOS PN photodiode will be design and analyze for the application at 5GHz optical 
communication. The paper will be divided in several section; the theory of CMOS PN photodiode and design with 
analysis of IV characteristics of PN photodiode. A better understanding of the operation will be investigated through 
this. The PN photodiode will be design using Silvaco TCAD and will be characterize and experimental in IV 
Characteristic. The effects of IV characteristic will be analyzed in term of changes the width and light. Further 
understanding of IV characteristic will be presents in this paper.
