Studies of the Antiproliferative Activity of Ruthenium (II) Cyclopentadienyl-Derived Complexes with Nitrogen Coordinated Ligands
Virtudes Moreno,Julia Lorenzo,Francesc X. Avilés,M. Helena Garcia,João P. Ribeiro,Tânia S. Morais,Pedro Florindo,M. Paula Robalo +7 more
TL;DR: Four cationic ruthenium(II) complexes with the formula [Ru(η 5-C5H5)(PPh3)2]+, with L = 5-phenyl-1H-tetrazole, showed much higher cytotoxicity than the cisplatin against human leukaemia cancer cells (HL-60 cells).
Journal ArticleDOI
DNA interaction and cytotoxicity studies of new ruthenium(II) cyclopentadienyl derivative complexes containing heteroaromatic ligands.
Virtudes Moreno,Mercè Font-Bardia,Teresa Calvet,Julia Lorenzo,Francesc X. Avilés,M. Helena Garcia,Tânia S. Morais,Andreia Valente,M. Paula Robalo +8 more
TL;DR: The cytotoxicity of compounds 1234 was much higher than that of cisplatin against human leukemia cancer cells (HL-60 cells) and IC(50) values for all the compounds are in the range of submicromolar amounts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibition of cancer cell growth by ruthenium(II) cyclopentadienyl derivative complexes with heteroaromatic ligands.
M. Helena Garcia,Tânia S. Morais,Pedro Florindo,M. Fátima M. Piedade,M. Fátima M. Piedade,Virtudes Moreno,Carlos J. Ciudad,Verónica Noé +7 more
TL;DR: Crystal structures of compounds 1 and 2 suggest different mechanisms of interaction with the plasmid pBR322 DNA; while the mode of binding of compound 1 could be intercalation between base pairs of DNA, compound 2 might be involved in a covalent bond formation with N from the purine base.
Journal ArticleDOI
[RuII(η5-C5H5)(bipy)(PPh3)]+, a promising large spectrum antitumor agent: cytotoxic activity and interaction with Human Serum Albumin
Ana Isabel Tomaz,Tamás Jakusch,Tânia S. Morais,Fernanda Marques,Rodrigo F.M. de Almeida,Filipa Mendes,Éva A. Enyedy,Isabel Santos,João Costa Pessoa,Tamás Kiss,M. Helena Garcia +10 more
TL;DR: The properties herein evaluated suggest that TM34 could be an anticancer agent of highly relevant therapeutic value.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hyper-Rayleigh scattering study of η5-monocyclopentadienyl–metal complexes for second order non-linear optical materials
Wim Wenseleers,Abraham W. Gerbrandij,Etienne Goovaerts,M. Helena Garcia,M. Paula Robalo,Paulo J. Mendes,João Rodrigues,Alberto R. Dias +7 more
TL;DR: A series of ionic η5-monocyclopentadienyl-metal compounds possessing p-substituted benzonitrile ligands has been studied by hyper-Rayleigh scattering at the fundamental wavelength of 1.064 µm as mentioned in this paper.
