Journal ArticleDOI

Z-Beamlet: a multikilojoule, terawatt-class laser system

TL;DR: A large-aperture (30-cm) kilojoule-class Nd:glass laser system known as Z-Beamlet has been constructed to perform x-ray radiography of high-energy-density science experiments conducted on the Z facility at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-temperature dynamic hohlraums on the pulsed power driver Z

TL;DR: In the concept of dynamic hohlraum, an imploding Z pinch is optically thick to its own radiation as mentioned in this paper, and the radiation may be trapped inside the pinch by colliding an outer Z-pinch liner onto an inner liner.
Journal ArticleDOI

Axial diagnostic package for Z

TL;DR: In this article, the axial diagnostic package for the 20 MA, 100 ns, z-pinch driver Z is presented, which allows much closer proximity to the pinch, with inherently better resolution and signal than is presently possible in viewing the pinch from the side.
