Journal ArticleDOI
Diastolic dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: is it really the first marker of diabetic cardiomyopathy?
Laura Ernande,Cyrille Bergerot,Ernst Rietzschel,Marc De Buyzere,Hélène Thibault,Pierre Gautier Pignon-Blanc,Pierre Croisille,M. Ovize,L. Groisne,Philippe Moulin,Thierry C. Gillebert,Geneviève Derumeaux +11 more
TL;DR: Diastolic dysfunction diagnosed according to current recommendations is frequent in patients with DM but is also influenced by other factors, indicating that diastolics dysfunction should not be considered the first marker of a preclinical form of diabetic cardiomyopathy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impaired myocardial radial function in asymptomatic patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: a speckle-tracking imaging study.
Laura Ernande,Ernst Rietzschel,Cyrille Bergerot,Marc De Buyzere,Frédéric Schnell,L. Groisne,M. Ovize,Pierre Croisille,Philippe Moulin,Thierry C. Gillebert,Geneviève Derumeaux +10 more
TL;DR: Diabetic patients without overt heart disease display subclinical alteration of both radial and longitudinal LV systolic function even after adjustment for blood pressure, age, and body mass index.
Journal ArticleDOI
9th Hatter Biannual Meeting: position document on ischaemia/reperfusion injury, conditioning and the ten commandments of cardioprotection.
Robert M. Bell,Hans Erik Bøtker,R. D. Carr,Sean M. Davidson,James M. Downey,David P. Dutka,Gerd Heusch,Borja Ibanez,Raymond J. MacAllister,Christian Stoppe,M. Ovize,Andrew N. Redington,John Walker,Derek M. Yellon +13 more
TL;DR: The investigators meeting at the Hatter Cardiovascular Institute workshop describe the challenge of translating strong pre-clinical data into effective clinical intervention strategies in patients in whom effective medical therapy is already altering the pathophysiology of ischaemia/reperfusion injury and lay out a clearly defined framework for future basic and clinical research to improve the chances of successful translation of strongPre-clinical interventions in man.
Journal ArticleDOI
Right Isovolumic Contraction Velocity Predicts Survival in Pulmonary Hypertension
Laura Ernande,Vincent Cottin,Pierre-Yves Leroux,Nicolas Girerd,Sandrine Huez,Aurélien Mulliez,Cyrille Bergerot,M. Ovize,Jean-François Mornex,Jean-François Cordier,Robert Naeije,Geneviève Derumeaux +11 more
TL;DR: Measurement of right ventricular function by Doppler tissue imaging, an easy, noninvasive, and reproducible method, is an independent predictor of clinical outcomes in patients with severe pulmonary hypertension.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cyclosporine A at reperfusion fails to reduce infarct size in the in vivo rat heart
Damien De Paulis,P. Chiari,Geoffrey Teixeira,Elisabeth Couture-Lepetit,Maryline Abrial,Laurent Argaud,Abdallah Gharib,M. Ovize +7 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that isoflurane, but not cyclosporine A, can prevent lethal reperfusion injury in this in vivo rat model and the mitochondrial calcium retention capacity significantly increased only in the Post-Iso group after succinate activation.
