Journal ArticleDOI
Recommendations for cardiac chamber quantification by echocardiography in adults: an update from the American Society of Echocardiography and the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging.
Roberto M. Lang,Luigi P. Badano,Victor Mor-Avi,Jonathan Afilalo,Anderson C. Armstrong,Laura Ernande,Frank A. Flachskampf,Elyse Foster,Steven A. Goldstein,Tatiana Kuznetsova,Patrizio Lancellotti,Denisa Muraru,Michael H. Picard,Ernst Rietzschel,Lawrence G. Rudski,Kirk T. Spencer,Wendy Tsang,Jens-Uwe Voigt +17 more
TL;DR: This document provides updated normal values for all four cardiac chambers, including three-dimensional echocardiography and myocardial deformation, when possible, on the basis of considerably larger numbers of normal subjects, compiled from multiple databases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determinants of pulse wave velocity in healthy people and in the presence of cardiovascular risk factors: 'establishing normal and reference values'.
Francesco U.S. Mattace-Raso,Albert Hofman,Germaine C. Verwoert,Jacqueline C.M. Witteman,Ian B. Wilkinson,John R. Cockcroft,Carmel M. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors established reference and normal values for Carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (PWV), a direct measure of aortic stiffness, based on a large European population.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Call to Action and a Lifecourse Strategy to Address the Global Burden of Raised Blood Pressure on Current and Future Generations: The Lancet Commission on Hypertension
Michael H. Olsen,Michael H. Olsen,Sonia Y. Angell,Samira Asma,Pierre Boutouyrie,Dylan Burger,Julio A. Chirinos,Albertino Damasceno,Christian Delles,Anne Paule Gimenez-Roqueplo,Anne Paule Gimenez-Roqueplo,Dagmara Hering,Patricio Lopez-Jaramillo,Fernando Martinez,Vlado Perkovic,Ernst Rietzschel,Giuseppe Schillaci,Aletta E. Schutte,Angelo Scuteri,James E. Sharman,Kristian Wachtell,Ji-Guang Wang +21 more
TL;DR: The Commission has identified ten essential and achievable goals and ten accompanying, mutually additive, and synergistic key actions that—if implemented effectively and broadly—will make substantial contributions to the management of blood pressure globally.
Journal ArticleDOI
Associations between dietary inflammatory index and inflammatory markers in the Asklepios Study.
Nitin Shivappa,James R. Hébert,Ernst Rietzschel,Marc De Buyzere,Michel Langlois,Evi Debruyne,Ascensión Marcos,Inge Huybrechts +7 more
TL;DR: The fact that diet, as a whole, plays an important role in modifying inflammation is reinforced, as it is shown that nutrients and certain food items influence inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Telomere length and cardiovascular risk factors in a middle‐aged population free of overt cardiovascular disease
Sofie Bekaert,Tim De Meyer,Ernst Rietzschel,Marc De Buyzere,Dirk De Bacquer,Michel Langlois,Patrick Segers,Luc Cooman,Piet Van Damme,Peter Cassiman,Wim Van Criekinge,Pascal Verdonck,Guy De Backer,Thierry C. Gillebert,Patrick Van Oostveldt +14 more
TL;DR: It is shown that TL of peripheral blood leukocytes primarily reflects the burden of increased oxidative stress and inflammation, whether or not determined by an increasingly unhealthy lifestyle, while the association with classical CVD risk factors is limited.
