Bandgap engineering of carbon quantum dots

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present scalable methods of producing carbon quantum dots with desired bandgaps by the following steps: exposing a carbon source to an oxidant at a reaction temperature, where the exposing results in the formation of the carbon quantum dot; and selecting a desired size of the formed quantum dot.
Journal ArticleDOI

Charge density wave behavior and order-disorder in the antiferromagnetic metallic series Eu (Ga 1 -x Al x ) 4

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report the onset of magnetic spin reorientation and metamagnetic transitions for $x=0--1$ evidenced by magnetization and temperature-dependent specific heat measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

CeIr3Ge7: A local moment antiferromagnetic metal with extremely low ordering temperature

TL;DR: In this paper, the average Weiss temperature measured below 10 K is comparable to that of an antiferromagnetic metal with order between 2 and 15 K. The unusually low ordering temperature in this material can be attributed to the large Ce-Ce bond length of about 5.7 \AA{, which is about 1.5 times larger than in most Ce-based intermetallic systems.
