Effect of silica ions and nano silica on rice plants under salinity stress
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of Si ions and silica nanoparticles (both extracted from rice straw) on the physiological and biochemical responses and the expression of the two silicon uptake genes LSi1 and LSi2 in rice under increasing NaCl salt concentrations (0, 100, 200, 400 and 800 mM).
Journal ArticleDOI
AtDGK2, a novel diacylglycerol kinase from Arabidopsis thaliana, phosphorylates 1-stearoyl-2-arachidonoyl-sn-glycerol and 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycerol and exhibits cold-inducible gene expression.
Fernando Carlos Gómez-Merino,Charles A. Brearley,Magdalena Ornatowska,Mahmoud E.F. Abdel-Haliem,María-Inés Zanor,Bernd Mueller-Roeber +5 more
TL;DR: It is found that AtDGK2 is induced by exposure to low temperature (4 °C), pointing to a role in cold signal transduction, and exhibited substrate preference for unsaturated DAG analogues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of Streptomyces isolates causing colour changes of mural paintings in ancient Egyptian tombs.
TL;DR: It could be shown that Streptomyces strains are involved on a large scale in the colour changes of paintings and stone support by producing a wide range of metabolites such as acids, biopigments of melanin, carotenoids, and hydrogen sulphide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fabrication of binary metal substituted CdO with superior aptitude for dye degradation and antibacterial activity
Abdur Rub Abdur Rahman,Muhammad Aadil,Sonia Zulfiqar,Ibrahim A. Alsafari,Muhammad Shahid,Philips O. Agboola,Muhammad Farooq Warsi,Mahmoud E.F. Abdel-Haliem +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a very inexpensive and simple wet chemical approach was employed to fabricate the doped and co-doped nanostructures with antibacterial activity against three bacterial strains (Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Proteus vulgaris).
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and Characterization of Silver-Coated Polymeric Scaffolds for Bone Tissue Engineering: Antibacterial and In Vitro Evaluation of Cytotoxicity and Biocompatibility.
Muhammad U. Khan,Muhammad U. Khan,Muhammad U. Khan,Saiful Izwan Abd Razak,Hassan Mehboob,Mohammed Rafiq Abdul Kadir,T. Joseph Sahaya Anand,Fawad Inam,Saqlain A. Shah,Mahmoud E.F. Abdel-Haliem,Rashid Amin +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a polymeric nanocomposite scaffold based on arabinoxylan-co-acrylic acid, nano-hydroxyapatite (nHAp), nano-aluminum oxide (nAl2O3), and graphene oxide (GO) was introduced for the development of porous scaffolds using the freeze-drying technique.
