Current status of the algae production industry in Europe: an emerging sector of the Blue Bioeconomy
Rita Araújo,Fatima Vázquez Calderón,Javier Sanchez Lopez,Isabel C. Azevedo,Annette Bruhn,Silvia Fluch,Manuel García Tasende,Fatemeh Ghaderiardakani,Tanel Ilmjärv,Martial Laurans,Michéal Mac Monagail,Silvio Mangini,César Peteiro,Céline Rebours,Tryggvi S. Stefansson,Jörg Ullmann +15 more
TL;DR: The results of a comprehensive mapping and detailed characterisation of the algae production at the European scale, encompassing macroalgae, microalgae and the cyanobacteria Spirulina, were presented and analyzed in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fatty acid and sterol composition of gametophytes and sporophytes of Chondrus crispus (Gigartinaceae, Rhodophyta)
TL;DR: The results of this study showed that intra-specific variation in algae can be occured and fatty acids and sterols of algal class, families and sometimes even species are characteristic to those particular taxa, and could be useful as chemotaxonomic markers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Systematics of Alloteuthis (Cephalopoda:Loliginidae) based on molecular and morphometric data
Frank E. Anderson,Adria Pilsits,Stephanie A Clutts,Vladimir Laptikhovsky,Giambattista Bello,Eduardo Balguerias,Marek R. Lipinski,Chingis Nigmatulin,João Pereira,Uwe Piatkowski,Jean-Paul Robin,Alp Salman,Manuel García Tasende +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used morphometric data and DNA sequence data from two mitochondrial loci and a nuclear locus from Alloteuthis specimens collected from several localities to confirm the taxonomic relationship between A. media and A. subulata.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanisms of resistance to simazine in Sonchus oleraceus
M.I. Fraga,Manuel García Tasende +1 more
TL;DR: Sonchus oleraceus biotypes resistant to simazine were identified by chlorophyll fluorescence analysis of intact leaves on the basis of cpDNA and glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatial and temporal variations of Chondrus crispus (Gigartinaceae, Rhodophyta) carrageenan content in natural populations from Galicia (NW Spain)
TL;DR: In this paper, qualitative and quantitative differences in carrageenan composition of gametophytes and tetrasporophytes of Chondrus crispus were observed in the Galician coast.
