Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of the CO2 pressure on the thermal decomposition kinetics of calcium carbonate

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of carbon dioxide on the thermal decomposition kinetics of calcium carbonate is studied and it is shown that it is possible to obtain meaningful and reliable kinetic parameters from isothermal and non-isothermal data provided that the pressure correction term is included in the kinetic equation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Low-salinity plumes in the oceanic region of the Basque Country

TL;DR: In this article, the authors assess the potential role of large surface freshwater discharges from the Adour (France), Nervion, Oria, Deba, Urola, Urumea and Bidasoa (Basque Country) rivers, to explain the presence of low-salinity waters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Trends and anomalies in sea-surface temperature, observed over the last 60 years, within the southeastern Bay of Biscay

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed the consistency and reliability of the time-series; and trends and anomaly patterns, as well as the periodicity of the series; a reference period for analysing seasonality during the period 2001-2007; and oceano-meteorological coupling within the period with reference to the baseline period, have been determined.
Journal ArticleDOI

Occurrence and risk assessment of nonylphenol and nonylphenol ethoxylates in sewage sludge from different conventional treatment processes

TL;DR: Risk quotients, expressed as the ratios between environmental concentrations and the predicted no-effect concentrations, were higher than 1 for NP, NP1EO and NP2EO in the 99%, 92% and 36% of the studied samples, respectively; and higher than 2 in the 86, 6% and 2%, respectively, after sludge application to soil, leading to a significant ecotoxicological risk.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of Pharmaceutical Care intervention and communication skills on the improvement of pharmacotherapeutic outcomes with elderly Brazilian outpatients

TL;DR: It was observed that Pharmaceutical Care intervention and humanized communication, of an educational nature, optimized the use of medication, reduced symptoms caused by drug therapy, and improved the health conditions of the patients.
