Passive Amplification of Data Signals using On-chip Dispersive Phase Filters in Silicon
TL;DR: In this paper, a dispersive phase filter design for passive amplification of data signals using waveguide Bragg gratings in silicon is proposed, which is demonstrated in experiments with a PAM-4 data signal.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Integrated microrings for on-chip filtering and efficient FWM generation
TL;DR: In this paper, a dual polarisation filter based on a cascaded three ring resonator geometry is proposed for tunable four-wave mixing with only 1.8 dB insertion loss.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Modelling strategies for semiconductor ring lasers
TL;DR: In this paper, the modal properties of a semiconductor ring laser and the wavelength jumps that occur in connection with directional switching above threshold were analyzed experimentally and theoretically, and a transfer matrix analysis allowed to explain the transfer function measurements when amplified spontaneous emission in the cavity is accounted for.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Nonlinear Surface Waves at the Interface of Discrete and Continuous Media
Demetrios N. Christodoulides,Sergiy Suntsov,Georgios A. Siviloglou,Konstantinos G. Makris,R. Iwanow,Roland Schiek,George I. Stegeman,Ofer Manela,M. Segev,Roberto Morandotti,Alain Haché,Haeyeon Yang,Greg Salamo,Marc Sorel,Yoohong Min,Wolfgang Sohler +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide an overview of recent theoretical and experimental results in the area of surface lattice solitons, and the observation of these waves in Kerr and quadratic nonlinear periodic structures is discussed.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Coupled-mode equations for monolithic semiconductor ring lasers: numerical simulations and experimental results
Guido Giuliani,R. Miglierina,Silvano Donati,Alessandro Scirè,Salvador Balle,Marc Sorel,P.J.R. Laybourn +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, numerical and experimental studies of coupled mode dynamics for monolithic semiconductor ring lasers were performed for different operating regimes, namely, bidirectional CW, unidirectional and CW with harmonic oscillations of the mode intensities.
