Prophylactic effect of artemether on human schistosomiasis mansoni among Egyptian children: A randomized controlled trial.
TL;DR: PZQ/ART combined therapy might be considered as an adjunct measure against human schistosomiasis, by specifically reducing transmission and therefore contribute to disease elimination.
Journal ArticleDOI
Examples of coupled human and environmental systems from the extractive industry and hydropower sector interfaces
Marcia C. Castro,Gary R. Krieger,Marci Z. Balge,Marcel Tanner,Jürg Utzinger,Jürg Utzinger,Maxine Whittaker,Burton H. Singer +7 more
TL;DR: Examples of positive phenomena are presented that have increasingly influenced project design and relations among companies, host governments, and locally impacted communities and also focus attention on a myriad of challenges that still lie ahead.
Journal ArticleDOI
Whole blood transcriptome changes following controlled human malaria infection in malaria pre-exposed volunteers correlate with parasite prepatent period.
Julian Rothen,Julian Rothen,Carl Murie,Jason Carnes,Atashi Anupama,Salim Abdulla,Mwajuma Chemba,Maxmillian Mpina,Maxmillian Mpina,Maxmillian Mpina,Marcel Tanner,Marcel Tanner,B. Kim Lee Sim,Stephen L. Hoffman,Raphael Gottardo,Claudia Daubenberger,Claudia Daubenberger,Kenneth Stuart +17 more
TL;DR: It was showed that in malaria pre-exposed volunteers, parasite prepatent period in each individual is linked to magnitude and timing of early gene expression changes after ID CHMI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Decentralizing EPI services and prospects for increasing coverage: the case of Tanzania.
TL;DR: This study analysed the experience of EPI decentralization at national, regional and district levels and proposed that reforms should give priority to the involvement of communities and peripheral health facility providers in the process.

Effect of single-dose oral artemether and tribendimidine on the tegument of adult Clonorchis sinensis in rats
