Journal ArticleDOI

The receptor RAGE as a progression factor amplifying arachidonate-dependent inflammatory and proteolytic response in human atherosclerotic plaques: role of glycemic control.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated in humans that RAGE overexpression is associated with enhanced inflammatory reaction and COX-2/mPGES-1 expression in diabetic plaque macrophages, and this effect may contribute to plaque destabilization by inducing culprit metalloproteinase expression.
Journal ArticleDOI

Elevated Circulating Levels of Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 in Patients With Restenosis After Coronary Angioplasty

TL;DR: This study suggests that MCP-1 production and macrophage accumulation in the balloon-injured vessel may play a pivotal role in restenosis after PTCA and may induce luminal renarrowing, at least in part, by inducing O(2)(-) release in monocytes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Association between enhanced soluble CD40L and prothrombotic state in hypercholesterolemia: effects of statin therapy.

TL;DR: It is suggested that sCD40L may represent the molecular link between hypercholesterolemia and the prothrombotic state and demonstrates that statin therapy may significantly reduce s CD40L and theProthromBotic state.
