Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Thrombophilia on Risk of Arterial Ischemic Stroke or Cerebral Sinovenous Thrombosis in Neonates and Children A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies
Gili Kenet,Lisa K. Lütkhoff,Manuela Albisetti,Timothy J. Bernard,Mariana Bonduel,Leonardo R. Brandão,Stéphane Chabrier,Anthony K.C. Chan,Gabrielle deVeber,Barbara Fiedler,Heather J. Fullerton,Neil A. Lynch,Christoph Male,Marilyn J. Manco-Johnson,Rolf M. Mesters,Paul Monagle,C. Heleen van Ommen,Leslie Raffini,Kevin Rostasy,Paolo Simioni,Ronald Sträter,Guy Young,Ulrike Nowak-Göttl +33 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that thrombophilias serve as risk factors for incident stroke through a meta-analysis of published observational studies and no significant heterogeneity was discerned across studies, and no publication bias was detected.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Inherited Thrombophilia on Venous Thromboembolism in Children A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies
Guy Young,Manuela Albisetti,Mariana Bonduel,Leonardo R. Brandão,Anthony K.C. Chan,Frauke Friedrichs,Neil A. Goldenberg,Eric F. Grabowski,Christine Heller,Janna M. Journeycake,Gili Kenet,Anne Krümpel,Karin Kurnik,Aaron Lubetsky,Christoph Male,Marilyn J. Manco-Johnson,Prasad Mathew,Paul Monagle,Heleen van Ommen,Paolo Simioni,Pavel Svirin,Daniela Tormene,Ulrike Nowak-Göttl +22 more
TL;DR: The present meta-analysis indicates that detection of IT is clinically meaningful in children with, or at risk for, VTE and underscores the importance of pediatric thrombophilia screening programs.
Journal ArticleDOI
American Society of Hematology 2018 Guidelines for management of venous thromboembolism: treatment of pediatric venous thromboembolism.
Paul Monagle,Carlos Cuello,Carlos Cuello,Caitlin Augustine,Mariana Bonduel,Leonardo R. Brandão,Tammy Capman,Anthony K.C. Chan,Sheila J. Hanson,Christoph Male,Joerg J Meerpohl,Fiona Newall,Sarah H. TL;DR: Recommendations include understanding the natural history of asymptomatic thrombosis, determining subgroup boundaries that enable risk stratification of children for escalation of treatment, and appropriate study of newer anticoagulant agents in children.
Journal ArticleDOI
Consensus-based clinical recommendations and research priorities for anticoagulant thromboprophylaxis in children hospitalized for COVID-19-related illness.
Neil A. Goldenberg,Neil A. Goldenberg,Anthony A. Sochet,Anthony A. Sochet,Manuela Albisetti,Tina Biss,Mariana Bonduel,Julie Jaffray,Graeme MacLaren,Paul Monagle,Paul Monagle,Sarah H. O'Brien,Leslie Raffini,Shoshana Revel-Vilk,Nongnuch Sirachainan,Suzan Williams,Ayesha Zia,Christoph Male +17 more
TL;DR: There remains a paucity of high‐quality evidence to inform clinical practice world‐wide on the use of anticoagulant thromboprophylaxis in children hospitalized for COVID‐19‐related illnesses, and priorities for future research are identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Persistent Antiphospholipid Antibodies on Risk of Incident Symptomatic Thromboembolism in Children: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Gili Kenet,Sofia Aronis,Yackov Berkun,Mariana Bonduel,Anthony K.C. Chan,Neil A. Goldenberg,Susanne Holzhauer,Alfonso Iorio,Janna M. Journeycake,Ralf Junker,Christoph Male,Marilyn J. Manco-Johnson,Patti Massicotte,Rolf M. Mesters,Paul Monagle,Heleen van Ommen,Leslie Rafini,Paolo Simioni,Guy Young,Ulrike Nowak-Göttl +19 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that detection of persistent aPL is clinically meaningful in children with, or at risk for, TE and underscores the importance of pediatric thrombophilia screening programs.
