Association of Birth During the COVID-19 Pandemic With Neurodevelopmental Status at 6 Months in Infants With and Without In Utero Exposure to Maternal SARS-CoV-2 Infection.
Lauren C. Shuffrey,Morgan R. Firestein,Margaret H. Kyle,Andrea Cora Fields,Carmela Alcántara,Dima Amso,Judy Austin,Jennifer M. Bain,Jennifer R. Barbosa,Mary L. Bence,Catherine Bianco,Cristina R. Fernández,Sylvie Goldman,Cynthia Gyamfi-Bannerman,Violet Hott,Yunzhe Hu,Maha Hussain,Pam Factor-Litvak,Maristella Lucchini,Arthur M. Mandel,Rachel Marsh,Danielle McBrian,Mirella Mourad,Rebecca A. Muhle,Kimberly G. Noble,Anna A. Penn,Cynthia Rodriguez,Ayesha Sania,Wendy Silver,Kally C. O'Reilly,Melissa S. Stockwell,Nim Tottenham,Martha G. Welch,Noelia Zork,William P. Fifer,Catherine Monk,Dani Dumitriu +36 more
TL;DR: Birth during the pandemic, but not in utero exposure to maternal SARS-CoV-2 infection, was associated with differences in neurodevelopment at age 6 months, and these early findings support the need for long-term monitoring of children born during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel heart rate parameters for the assessment of autonomic nervous system function in premature infants.
TL;DR: Traditional and novel approaches to HRV analyses are applied and compared in order to evaluate their relative merits in the assessment of ANS activity and the influence of sleep position and significant differences were observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fetal cardiac dysfunction in intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy is associated with elevated serum bile acid concentrations
Tharni Vasavan,Sahil Deepak,Indu Asanka Jayawardane,Maristella Lucchini,Catherine Martin,Victoria Geenes,Joel S.C. Yang,Anita Lövgren-Sandblom,Paul T. Seed,Jenny Chambers,S Stone,Lesia O. Kurlak,Peter H. Dixon,Hanns-Ulrich Marschall,Julia Gorelik,Lucy C Chappell,Pam Loughna,Jim G Thornton,Fiona Broughton Pipkin,Barrie Hayes-Gill,William P. Fifer,Catherine Williamson +21 more
TL;DR: It is found that babies of women with untreated ICP have abnormally functioning hearts compared to those without ICP, and the degree of abnormality is closely linked to the level of harmful bile acids in the mother and baby’s blood.
Journal ArticleDOI
Entropy Information of Cardiorespiratory Dynamics in Neonates during Sleep.
TL;DR: Heart rate, respiratory variability and their interrelationship in newborn infants are analyzed to characterize cardiorespiratory interactions in different sleep states (active vs. quiet) and HRV is higher in active sleep, while high frequency (HF) power characterizes more quiet sleep.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association Between Prenatal Exposure to Alcohol and Tobacco and Neonatal Brain Activity: Results From the Safe Passage Study.
Lauren C. Shuffrey,Michael M. Myers,Joseph R. Isler,Maristella Lucchini,Ayesha Sania,Nicolò Pini,J. David Nugent,Carmen Condon,Timothy N. Ochoa,Lucy Brink,Carlie du Plessis,Hein J. Odendaal,Morgan E. Nelson,Christa Friedrich,Jyoti Angal,Amy J. Elliott,Coen Groenewald,Larry Burd,William P. Fifer +18 more
TL;DR: This cohort study uses electroencephalography to examine the association of prenatal exposure to alcohol and tobacco smoking with brain activity in newborns.
