Journal ArticleDOI
Randomized Multicenter Trial of Sentinel Node Biopsy Versus Standard Axillary Treatment in Operable Breast Cancer: The ALMANAC Trial
Robert E. Mansel,Lesley Fallowfield,Mark Kissin,Amit Goyal,Robert G. Newcombe,J Michael Dixon,Constantinos Yiangou,Kieran Horgan,Nigel J Bundred,I. Monypenny,David England,Mark Sibbering,Tholkifl I. Abdullah,Lester Barr,Utheshtra Chetty,Dudley H. Sinnett,Anne Fleissig,Dayalan Clarke,Peter J. Ell +18 more
TL;DR: Sentinel lymph node biopsy is associated with reduced arm morbidity and better quality of life than standard axillary treatment and should be the treatment of choice for patients who have early-stage breast cancer with clinically negative nodes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Post-operative arm morbidity and quality of life. Results of the ALMANAC randomised trial comparing sentinel node biopsy with standard axillary treatment in the management of patients with early breast cancer
Anne Fleissig,Lesley Fallowfield,C. Langridge,Leigh Johnson,Robert G. Newcombe,J Michael Dixon,Mark Kissin,Robert E. Mansel +7 more
TL;DR: The data from this randomised study support the use of SNB in patients with clinically node negative breast cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Staging of symptomatic primary breast cancer with MR imaging.
TL;DR: MR imaging of the breast has value in the preoperative locoregional staging of symptomatic primary breast cancer and is useful in planning a single definitive surgical resection in patients with breast cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
The development of optimal pathological assessment of sentinel lymph nodes for melanoma.
Martin G. Cook,Margaret Green,Brian Anderson,Alexander M.M. Eggermont,Dirk J. Ruiter,Alain Spatz,Mark Kissin,Barry Powell +7 more
TL;DR: The evolved protocol described here has been adopted by the EORTC as the standard procedure for pathological handling of sentinel lymph nodes for melanoma when SLN status is a criterion in their clinical trials or studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic value of cytological grading of fine-needle aspirates from breast carcinomas.
TL;DR: This study shows that grading of breast cancer on FNAC is feasible and reproducible, and establishes three cytological grades that corresponded well with the established histological grades (Elston's modified Bloom and Richardson method).
