Journal ArticleDOI
Berlin Heart EXCOR Pediatric Ventricular Assist Device for Bridge to Heart Transplantation in US Children
Christopher S. Almond,David L.S. Morales,Eugene H. Blackstone,Mark Turrentine,Michiaki Imamura,M. Patricia Massicotte,Lori C. Jordan,Eric J. Devaney,Chitra Ravishankar,Kirk R. Kanter,William L. Holman,Robert Kroslowitz,Christine Tjossem,Lucy Thuita,Gordon A. Cohen,Holger Buchholz,James D. St. Louis,Khanh Nguyen,Robert A. Niebler,Henry L. Walters,Brian Reemtsen,Peter D. Wearden,Olaf Reinhartz,Kristine J. Guleserian,Max B. Mitchell,Mark S. Bleiweis,Charles E. Canter,Tilman Humpl +27 more
TL;DR: Smaller patient size, renal dysfunction, hepatic dysfunction, and biventricular assist device use were associated with mortality, whereas extracorporeal membrane oxygenation before implantation and congenital heart disease were not.
Journal ArticleDOI
Post-transplant outcomes of children bridged to transplant with the Berlin Heart EXCOR Pediatric ventricular assist device.
Pirooz Eghtesady,Christopher S. Almond,Christine Tjossem,Deirdre J. Epstein,Michiaki Imamura,Mark Turrentine,James S. Tweddell,Robert D.B. Jaquiss,Charles E. Canter +8 more
TL;DR: The 12-month post-transplant survival with EXCOR is comparable with overall pediatric heart transplant survival and superior to survival after extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute hemodynamic effects of pacing in patients with Fontan physiology: a prospective study.
Brent J. Barber,Anjan S. Batra,Grant H. Burch,Irving Shen,Ross M. Ungerleider,John W. Brown,Mark Turrentine,Motomi Mori,Yi Ching Hsieh,Seshadri Balaji +9 more
TL;DR: Asynchronous ventricular pacing, after the Fontan procedure, has acute, adverse hemodynamic consequences (elevated LAP and PAP and decreased Qs and MAP); it is hypothesized that AV synchrony is vital for maximizing Fontan hemodynamics.
Journal Article
Heart transplantation in patients with Marfan's syndrome: A survey of attitudes and results
TL;DR: It appears that the known vascular complications of Marfan's syndrome may diminish the anticipated results after heart transplantation, and the reluctance to place these patients on heart transplant donor waiting lists can be justified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of desensitization in solid organ transplant recipients depends on some cytokines genes polymorphism
Andrew L. Lobashevsky,J.E. Manwaring,M.M. Travis,B.L. Nord,Nancy G. Higgins,Youri Serov,T. S. Arnoff,G. A. Hommel‐Berrey,William C. Goggins,Tim E. Taber,Charles B. Carter,Daniel S. Smith,Thomas C. Wozniak,J.A. O'Donnell,Mark Turrentine +14 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that analysis PM of genes encoding IL-4R, IFNgamma and IL-12 enables to define the DS strategy in TCs more accurately regarding the number of plasmapheresis (PP) cycles and dose of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG).
