The effects of ownership, staffing level and organisational justice on nurse commitment, involvement, and satisfaction: a questionnaire study.
Tarja Heponiemi,Marko Elovainio,Anne Kouvonen,Hannamaria Kuusio,Anja Noro,Harriet Finne-Soveri,Timo Sinervo +6 more
TL;DR: Results show that organisational justice can act as a buffer against low organisational commitment that results from low staffing levels and working in for-profit sheltered homes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalent cardiovascular disease, risk factors and selection out of shift work
Mika Kivimäki,Marianna Virtanen,Marko Elovainio,Ari Väänänen,Liisa Keltikangas-Järvinen,Jussi Vahtera +5 more
TL;DR: Employees with several risk factors are more likely to leave an organization regardless of the type of work schedule, and health-related selection out of shift work is an unlikely source of major bias in research on shift work and CVD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Justin Presseau,Marie Johnston,Jill J Francis,Susan Hrisos,Elaine Stamp,Nick Steen,Gillian Hawthorne,Jeremy M. Grimshaw,Jeremy M. Grimshaw,Marko Elovainio,Margaret Hunter,Martin P Eccles +11 more
TL;DR: Constructs from social cognitive theory (self-efficacy), learning theory (habit) and action and coping planning consistently predicted multiple clinician behaviors and should be targeted by quality improvement interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Social isolation and loneliness as risk factors for myocardial infarction, stroke and mortality: UK Biobank cohort study of 479 054 men and women
Christian Hakulinen,Laura Pulkki-Råback,Marianna Virtanen,Markus Jokela,Mika Kivimäki,Marko Elovainio,Marko Elovainio +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined whether social isolation and loneliness predict acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and stroke among those with no history of AMI or stroke, and the extent to which these associations are explained by known risk factors or pre-existing chronic conditions.
