Journal ArticleDOI
Laypersons can successfully place supraglottic airways with 3 minutes of training. A comparison of four different devices in the manikin
Gereon Schälte,Christian Stoppe,Meral Aktas,Mark Coburn,Steffen Rex,Marlon Schwarz,Rolf Rossaint,Norbert Zoremba +7 more
TL;DR: Laypersons are able to operate supraglottic airway devices in manikin with minimal instruction and their use in first aid and BLS algorithms should be considered.
Journal ArticleDOI
The posterior dominant rhythm: an electroencephalographic biomarker for cognitive recovery after general anaesthesia.
Alyssa K. Labonte,Mohammadmehdi Kafashan,Emma R. Huels,Stefanie Blain-Moraes,Mathias Basner,Max B. Kelz,George A. Mashour,Michael S. Avidan,Ben J.A. Palanca,Maxwell R. Muench,Vijay Tarnal,Giancarlo Vanini,E. Andrew Ochroch,Rosemary M G Hogg,Marlon Schwarz,Ellen Janke,Goodarz Golmirzaie,Paul Picton,Andrew R. McKinstry-Wu +18 more
TL;DR: The posterior dominant rhythm (PDR) was the first oscillatory pattern noted in the EEG and has been investigated for tracking cognitive dysfunction after anaesthetic-induced loss of consciousness as mentioned in this paper .
Journal ArticleDOI
Following On-site Instructions for Operating Laryngeal Mask Supreme™ and Laryngeal Tube™ as an Alternative to Mouth-to-Mouth Ventilation in Layperson CPR: A Randomized Trial in the Manikin
Gereon Schälte,Christian Stoppe,Rolf Rossaint,Maike Heuser,Laura Gilles,Marlon Schwarz,Mark Coburn,Norbert Zoremba,Annette D. Rieg +8 more
TL;DR: Laypersons can achieve appropriate skills and understanding for both supraglottic airway devices in the manikin using a simple instruction manual and application of SADs may be improved by a better labeling, the quality of the instruction sheet and a reduction in steps required.
