Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of high versus low-velocity resistance training on muscular fitness and functional performance in older men
TL;DR: It appears that in older men there may be a significantly greater improvement in functional performance and muscular power with PT versus low velocity resistance training.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strength and Endurance Training Prescription in Healthy and Frail Elderly
TL;DR: The combination of strength and endurance training performed at moderate volume and moderate to high intensity in elderly populations is the most effective way to improve both neuromuscular and cardiorespiratory functions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Echo intensity is associated with skeletal muscle power and cardiovascular performance in elderly men
Eduardo Lusa Cadore,Mikel Izquierdo,Matheus Conceição,Régis Radaelli,Ronei Silveira Pinto,Bruno Manfredini Baroni,Marco Aurélio Vaz,Cristine Lima Alberton,Stephanie Santana Pinto,Giovani dos Santos Cunha,Martim Bottaro,Luiz Fernando Martins Kruel +11 more
TL;DR: The present results suggest that the echo intensity analysis using computer-aided gray-scale analysis is a low cost, easily accessible, and a safe method to evaluate the muscle quality, and may contribute to the research of neuromuscular and cardiovascular performances in the elderly.
Journal ArticleDOI
CrossFit Overview: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
João Gustavo Claudino,João Gustavo Claudino,Tim J. Gabbett,Frank A. Bourgeois,Helton de Sá Souza,Rafael Eduardo Eustórgio Pinheiro Chagas Miranda,Bruno Mezêncio,Rafael Soncin,Carlos Alberto Cardoso Filho,Martim Bottaro,Arnaldo José Hernandez,Alberto Carlos Amadio,Júlio Cerca Serrão +12 more
TL;DR: The current scientific literature related to CrossFit has few studies with high level of evidence at low risk of bias, however, preliminary data has suggested that CrossFit practice is associated with higher levels of sense of community, satisfaction, and motivation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intraocular pressure variation during weight lifting.
Geraldo Magela Vieira,Hildeamo Bonifácio Oliveira,Daniel Tavares de Andrade,Martim Bottaro,Robert Ritch +4 more
TL;DR: The IOP increases significantly during a bench press exercise, and breath holding during the exercise leads to a greater IOP increase.
