Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of thin-film adhesion and phonon lifetimes in Al/Si membranes by picosecond ultrasonics

TL;DR: In this article, the authors quantitatively study interfacial adhesion in a two-layer membrane system consisting of Al and Si with femtosecond time-resolved laser spectroscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spatial-temporally resolved high-frequency surface acoustic waves on silicon investigated by femtosecond spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, Rayleigh and leaky longitudinal surface acoustic wave modes are detected in the time domain for various propagation distances by measuring on various pitches and comparing the spectra with finite element calculations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Investigation of coherent acoustic phonons in terahertz quantum cascade laser structures using femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, the acoustic dispersion of a terahertz quantum cascade laser structure (THz-QCLs) is characterized by folding of the dispersion into an effective reduced Brillouin zone, which allows the sample structure and periodicity to be determined with high precision on the order of 0.1%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamics of coherent acoustic phonons in thin films of CoSb 3 and partially filled Yb x Co 4 Sb 12 skutterudites

TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate the generation and detection of coherent acoustic phonons in thin films of skutterudites and partially filled skatterudites using femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy.
