Variation of sperm size and evolution of giant spermatozoa in Lonchopteridae (Diptera).
Marion Kotrba,Martin Hess +1 more
TL;DR: In this article , a phylogenetic hypothesis of the genus Lonchoptera is proposed based on some discrete morphological characters and a molecular tree derived from DNA barcodes, and the occurrence of giant spermatozoa is compared to convergent occurrences reported in other taxa.

TL;DR: The authors' sample of A. branchialis from Brijuni MPA represents the first record for both, Croatian waters and the Northern Adriatic, and transformation from a putative Lessepsian migrant into an autochthone Mediterranean species.
