Journal ArticleDOI
Working memory abilities and children's performance in laboratory analogues of classroom activities
TL;DR: This paper found that working memory plays a significant role in typical classroom activities that involve both the storage and mental manipulation of information, and that children with low working memory skills have been observed to perform very poorly.
Journal ArticleDOI
Iodine's impact on tropospheric oxidants: a global model study in GEOS-Chem
Tomás Sherwen,Matthew Evans,Lucy J. Carpenter,Stephen J. Andrews,Richard T. Lidster,Barbara Dix,Theodore K. Koenig,Theodore K. Koenig,R. Sinreich,Ivan Ortega,Ivan Ortega,Rainer Volkamer,Rainer Volkamer,Alfonso Saiz-Lopez,C. Prados-Roman,Anoop S. Mahajan,Carlos Ordóñez +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a global simulation of tropospheric iodine chemistry within the GEOS-Chem chemical transport model is presented, which includes organic and inorganic iodine sources, standard gas-phase iodine chemistry, and simplified higher iodine oxide (I2OX, X, X) chemistry, photolysis, deposition, and parametrized heterogeneous reactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural Violence, Socioeconomic Rights, and Transformative Justice
TL;DR: In this article, the authors highlight the significance of structural violence in producing and reproducing violations of human rights, particularly of socioeconomic rights, and discuss the potential for transformative (rather than transitional) justice in postconflict and postauthoritarian contexts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Weak global sensitivity of cloud condensation nuclei and the aerosol indirect effect to Criegee + SO 2 chemistry
Jeffrey R. Pierce,Jeffrey R. Pierce,Matthew Evans,Catherine E. Scott,S. D. D'Andrea,S. D. D'Andrea,Delphine K. Farmer,Erik Swietlicki,Dominick V. Spracklen +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the impact of stabilized Criegee intermediates (CIs, formed from the ozonolysis of alkenes) with SO2 in the atmosphere.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radical chemistry at night: comparisons between observed and modelled HO x , NO 3 and N 2 O 5 during the RONOCO project
Daniel Stone,Matthew Evans,Hannah Walker,Trevor Ingham,Stewart Vaughan,Bin Ouyang,O. J. Kennedy,M. W. McLeod,Roderic L. Jones,James R. Hopkins,Shalini Punjabi,Richard T. Lidster,J. F. Hamilton,James D. Lee,Alastair C. Lewis,Lucy J. Carpenter,G. Forster,D. E. Oram,Claire E. Reeves,Stephane Bauguitte,William T. Morgan,Hugh Coe,Eleonora Aruffo,Cesare Dari-Salisburgo,Franco Giammaria,P. Di Carlo,Dwayne E. Heard +26 more
TL;DR: The RONOCO (ROle of Nighttime chemistry in controlling the Oxidising Capacity of the AtmOsphere) aircraft campaign during July 2010 and January 2011 made observations of OH, HO2, NO3, N2O5 and a number of supporting measurements at night over the UK, and reflects the first simultaneous airborne measurements of these species as discussed by the authors.
