Journal ArticleDOI
Magnetic Resonance Perfusion or Fractional Flow Reserve in Coronary Disease
Eike Nagel,John P Greenwood,Gerry P McCann,Nuno Bettencourt,Ajay M. Shah,Shazia T Hussain,Divaka Perera,Sven Plein,Chiara Bucciarelli-Ducci,Matthias Paul,Mark Westwood,Michael S. Marber,Wolf-Stefan Richter,Valentina O. Puntmann,Carsten Schwenke,Jeanette Schulz-Menger,Rajiv Das,Joyce Wong,Derek J. Hausenloy,Henning Steen,Colin Berry +20 more
TL;DR: Among patients with stable angina and risk factors for coronary artery disease, myocardial-perfusion cardiovascular MRI was associated with a lower incidence of coronary revascularization than FFR and was noninferior to FFR with respect to major adverse cardiac events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance myocardial feature tracking for quantitative viability assessment in ischemic cardiomyopathy.
Andreas Schuster,Matthias Paul,Nuno Bettencourt,Geraint Morton,Amedeo Chiribiri,Masaki Ishida,Shazia T Hussain,Roy Jogiya,Shelby Kutty,Boris Bigalke,Boris Bigalke,Divaka Perera,Eike Nagel +12 more
TL;DR: CMR-FT is a novel technique, which detects quantitative wall motion derived from SSFP cine imaging at rest and with low dose dobutamine stress, and holds promise of quantitative assessment of viability in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a universal dual-bolus injection scheme for the quantitative assessment of myocardial perfusion cardiovascular magnetic resonance
Masaki Ishida,Andreas Schuster,Geraint Morton,Amedeo Chiribiri,Shazia T Hussain,Matthias Paul,Nico Merkle,Henning Steen,Dirk Lossnitzer,Bernhard Schnackenburg,Khaled Alfakih,Sven Plein,Sven Plein,Eike Nagel +13 more
TL;DR: The universal dual-bolus injection scheme does not require sophisticated double-head power injector function and is a feasible technique to obtain reasonable arterial input function curves for absolute MBF quantification.
Journal ArticleDOI
Design and rationale of the MR-INFORM study: stress perfusion cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging to guide the management of patients with stable coronary artery disease
Shazia T Hussain,Matthias Paul,Sven Plein,Gerry P McCann,Ajay M. Shah,Michael S. Marber,Amedeo Chiribiri,Geraint Morton,Simon Redwood,Philip MacCarthy,Andreas Schuster,Andreas Schuster,Masaki Ishida,Mark Westwood,Divaka Perera,Eike Nagel +15 more
TL;DR: MR INFORM will assess whether an initial strategy of CMR perfusion is non-inferior to invasive angiography supplemented by FFR measurements to guide the management of patients with stable coronary artery disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiac endothelin system impairs left ventricular function in renin-dependent hypertension via decreased sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+) uptake.
Lars Rothermund,Yigal M. Pinto,Berthold Hocher,R Vetter,Stefan Leggewie,P Kobetamehl,Hans-Dieter Orzechowski,Reinhold Kreutz,Matthias Paul +8 more
TL;DR: Activation of the cardiac ET system accounts at least in part for the LV dysfunction that gradually develops in LVH and the protective effect of ETA antagonism can be attributed to the improvement of diastolic LV function that is due to normalization of impaired SR Ca2+ uptake.
