TL;DR: It is indicated that naturally aged, sun-protected skin and photoaged skin share important molecular features including connective tissue damage, elevated matrix metalloproteinase levels, and reduced collagen production.

Lung fibroblast alpha-smooth muscle actin expression and contractile phenotype in bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis.

TL;DR: Results show that cells with the myofibroblast phenotype are more abundant in fibrotic lung, and that these cells possess greater contractile capacity in vitro at least partly by virtue of their enhanced endogenous TGF-beta 1 gene expression.
