Journal ArticleDOI
Complete 23S Ribosomal RNA Sequences of Gram-positive Bacteria with a Low DNA G+C Content
Wolfgang Ludwig,Gudrun Kirchhof,Norbert Klugbauer,Michael Weizenegger,Doris Betzl,Mathias Ehrmann,Christian Hertel,Sabine Jilg,Ralf Tatzel,Horst Zitzelsberger,Susanne Liebl,Martina Hochberger,Jyotsna Shah,David J. Lane,Peter R. Wallnöfer,Karl Heinz Scheifer +15 more
TL;DR: A tree reflecting the phylogenetic relationships among gram-positive bacteria with a low DNA G+C content was reconstructed and compared with a phylogenetic tree based on a comparable data set of 16S rRNA sequences.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative 16S rRNA oligonucleotide analyses and murein types of round-spore-forming bacilli and non-spore-forming relatives.
Erko Stackebrandt,Wolfgang Ludwig,Michael Weizenegger,Silvia Dorn,Theodore J. Mcgill,George E. Fox,Carl R. Woese,Wolfgang Schubert,Karl-Heinz Schleifer +8 more
TL;DR: The phylogenetic incoherency of the genus Bacillus as presently described is demonstrated by analysis of both published and new data from comparative 16S rRNA cataloguing of nine Bacillus species and a number of related non-Bacillus taxa, i.e. Caryophanon latum, Filibacter limicola and Planococcus citreus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative Sequence Analysis of 23S rRNA from Proteobacteria
Wolfgang Ludwig,Ramon Rosselló-Móra,Rosa Aznar,Sabine Klugbauer,Stefan Spring,Konstantin Reetz,Claudia Beimfohr,Elke Brockmann,Gudrun Kirchhof,Silvia Dorn,Marianne Bachleitner,Norbert Klugbauer,Nina Springer,David Lane,Raymond Nietupsky,Michael Weizenegger,Karl-Heinz Schleifer +16 more
TL;DR: A phylogenetic tree reflecting the relationships among proteobacteria was reconstructed based on 23S rRNA sequence comparison, similar to that of a tree based on an equivalent 16S r RNA sequence data set.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Phylogenetic Positions of Pelobacter acetylenicus and Pelobacter propionicus
TL;DR: Almost complete 16S rRNA gene primary structures of Pelobacter acetylenicus strain WoAcyl (DSM 2348) and Pelobacteria propionicus strain OttBd14 (DSD2379) were determined by direct sequencing of in vitro amplified DNA.
