Journal ArticleDOI
Requirement of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase in recovery from DNA damage in mice and in cells
Josiane Ménissier-de Murcia,Claude Niedergang,Carlotta Trucco,Michèle Ricoul,Bernard Dutrillaux,Manuel Mark,F. Javier Oliver,Murielle Masson,Andrée Dierich,Marianne LeMeur,Caroline Walztinger,Pierre Chambon,Gilbert de Murcia +12 more
TL;DR: Results demonstrate that PARP is a survival factor playing an essential and positive role during DNA damage recovery, and inactivated both alleles by gene targeting in mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cell Inactivation and Double-Strand Breaks: The Role of Core Ionizations, as Probed by Ultrasoft X Rays
Barbara Fayard,A. Touati,F. Abel,M.-A. Hervé du Penhoat,I. Despiney-Bailly,F. Gobert,Michèle Ricoul,A. L'Hoir,Marie-Françoise Politis,Mark A. Hill,David L. Stevens,Laure Sabatier,E. Sage,Dudley T. Goodhead,A. Chetioui,A. Chetioui +15 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that core ionizations in DNA, through core-hole relaxation in conjunction with localized effects of spatially correlated secondary and Auger electrons, may be the major critical events for cell inactivation, and that the resulting DSBs (or a constant fraction of these D SBs) may be a major class of unrepairable lesions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aneuploidy in human lymphocytes: an extensive study of eight individuals of various ages.
Florence Richard,Alain Aurias,Jérôme Couturier,Anne-Marie Dutrillaux,Anne Flüry-Hérard,Michèle Gerbault-Seureau,F. Hoffschir,Eugénie Lamoliatte,D. Lefrançois,M. Lombard,Martine Muleris,Marguerite Prieur,Michèle Ricoul,Laure Sabatier,Evani Viegas-Péquignot,V. Volobouev,Bernard Dutrillaux,Bernard Dutrillaux +17 more
TL;DR: Although the rate of aneuploidy limited to autosomes was similar in newborns and in adults, the distributions of the missing autosomes were different and a significant inverse correlation with autosome lengths was observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lethal effect of carbon K-shell photoionizations in Chinese hamster V79 cell nuclei: experimental method and theoretical analysis.
M.-A. Hervé du Penhoat,Barbara Fayard,F. Abel,A. Touati,F. Gobert,I. Despiney-Bailly,Michèle Ricoul,Laure Sabatier,D. L. Stevens,Mark A. Hill,Dudley T. Goodhead,A Chetioui +11 more
TL;DR: An extrapolation to the lethal effect of more complex ion-induced K- shell ionizations indicates that K-shell ionization may be a major process in the biological effectiveness of heavy ions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biological effects induced by K photo-ionisation in and near constituent atoms of DNA.
A. Touati,M. A. Herve du Penhoot,Barbara Fayard,Christophe Champion,F. Abel,F. Gobert,M. Lamoureux,Marie-Françoise Politis,L. Martins,Michèle Ricoul,Laure Sabatier,E. Sage,A. Chetioui +12 more
TL;DR: A rough two-fold increase of the relative biological effectiveness for dicentric + ring induction has also been observed between 250 and 340 eV radiations.
