Hydrogen and Methane-Based Breath Testing in Gastrointestinal Disorders: The North American Consensus
Ali Rezaie,Michelle Buresi,Anthony Lembo,Henry C. Lin,Richard W. McCallum,Satish S.C. Rao,Max Schmulson,Miguel A. Valdovinos,Salam Zakko,Mark Pimentel +9 more
TL;DR: BT is a useful, inexpensive, simple and safe diagnostic test in the evaluation of common gastroenterology problems and should help to standardize the indications, preparation, performance and interpretation of BT in clinical practice and research.
Journal ArticleDOI
Protease-activated receptor-1 stimulates Ca2+-dependent Cl− secretion in human intestinal epithelial cells
Michelle Buresi,E. Schleihauf,Nathalie Vergnolle,Andre G. Buret,John L. Wallace,Morley D. Hollenberg,Wallace K. MacNaughton +6 more
TL;DR: The thrombin receptor, protease-activated receptor-1 (PAR-1), has wide tissue distribution and is involved in many physiological functions and in the intestinal lumen and mucosa du...
Journal ArticleDOI
Activation of proteinase-activated receptor 1 stimulates epithelial chloride secretion through a unique MAP kinase- and cyclo-oxygenase-dependent pathway.
TL;DR: The data show that PAR‐1‐induced chloride secretion in SCBN cells involves Src, EGF receptor trans‐activation, activation of a MAPK pathway, phosphorylation of cPLA2, COX activity, but not PGF2a or PGE2, which may be of clinical importance in inflammatory diseases of the intestine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thrombin receptor: An endogenous inhibitor of inflammatory pain, activating opioid pathways.
Laurence Martin,Céline Augé,Céline Augé,Jérôme Boué,Jérôme Boué,Michelle Buresi,Kevin Chapman,Samuel Asfaha,Patricia Andrade-Gordon,Martin Steinhoff,Nicolas Cenac,Nicolas Cenac,Gilles Dietrich,Gilles Dietrich,Nathalie Vergnolle,Nathalie Vergnolle,Nathalie Vergnolle +16 more
TL;DR: A previously unknown endogenous mechanism of analgesia is highlighted, showing a central role for the thrombin receptor PAR1 in the regulation of inflammatory pain and as an activator of opioid pathways.
Journal ArticleDOI
Real-world clinical, endoscopic and radiographic efficacy of vedolizumab for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.
Paulo Gustavo Kotze,Paulo Gustavo Kotze,Christopher Ma,Christopher Ma,Abdulelah Almutairdi,Ahmed Al-Darmaki,Shane M. Devlin,Gilaad G. Kaplan,Cynthia H. Seow,Kerri L. Novak,Cathy Lu,Jose G. Ferraz,M J Stewart,Michelle Buresi,Humberto Jijon,M Mathivanan,Joan Heatherington,Marie-Louise Martin,Remo Panaccione +18 more
TL;DR: Vedolizumab is an α4β7 integrin antagonist with proven efficacy for inducing and maintaining clinical response and remission in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
