Journal ArticleDOI
Classification and control of the origin of photoluminescence from Si nanocrystals
S. Godefroo,Manus Hayne,Manus Hayne,Mihaela Jivanescu,Andre Stesmans,Margit Zacharias,Oleg I. Lebedev,G. Van Tendeloo,Victor Moshchalkov +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown, based on measurements in high magnetic fields, that defects are the dominant source of light from Si nanocrystals, and it is shown that it is possible to control the origin of the photoluminescence in a single sample.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low temperature silicon dioxide by thermal atomic layer deposition: Investigation of material properties
Daniel Hiller,Robert Zierold,Julien Bachmann,Marin Alexe,Yang Yang,Jürgen W. Gerlach,Andre Stesmans,Mihaela Jivanescu,U. Müller,J. Vogt,H. Hilmer,Philipp Löper,M. Künle,Frans Munnik,Kornelius Nielsch,Margit Zacharias +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a low-temperature method for the preparation of SiO2 by thermal atomic layer deposition (ALD) provides perfect uniformity and surface coverage even into nanoscale pores, which may well suit recent demands in nanoelectronics and nanotechnology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nitrogen at the Si-nanocrystal/SiO 2 interface and its influence on luminescence and interface defects
Daniel Hiller,Silvana Goetze,Frans Munnik,Mihaela Jivanescu,Juergen W. Gerlach,J. Vogt,Eckhard Pippel,Nikolai Zakharov,Andre Stesmans,Margit Zacharias +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the high-temperature annealing ambient on size controlled Si nanocrystals (NCs) has been investigated in detail, and the exact location of the N incorporated during the N-blueshift was investigated by time-of-flight-SIMS and electron spin resonance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pb(0) centers at the Si-nanocrystal/SiO2 interface as the dominant photoluminescence quenching defect
TL;DR: In this paper, the correlation of paramagnetic defects and photoluminescence (PL) of size controlled Si nanocrystals (NCs) has been studied as a function of annealing ambient (Ar or N2) and subsequent H2 treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of heat-treatment on luminescence and structure of Ag nanoclusters doped oxyfluoride glasses and implication for fiber drawing
A. S Kuznetsov,Ngo Tuan Cuong,Victor Tikhomirov,Mihaela Jivanescu,Andre Stesmans,Liviu F. Chibotaru,Jose J. Velázquez,V.D. Rodríguez,Demid A. Kirilenko,G. Van Tendeloo,Victor Moshchalkov +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of heat treatment on the structure and luminescence of Ag nanoclusters doped oxyfluoride glasses was studied and the implication for drawing the corresponding fibers doped with luminescent Ag nanClusters has been proposed.
