TL;DR: For the first time, evidence-based clinical recommendations comprehensively address this branch of point-of-care ultrasound, providing a framework for FoCUS to standardize its application in different clinical settings around the world.
Journal ArticleDOI
The PAWPER tape: A new concept tape-based device that increases the accuracy of weight estimation in children through the inclusion of a modifier based on body habitus.
TL;DR: The PAWPER tape has been shown to be a simple and reliable method of weight estimation in children and infants and the inclusion of an appraisal of body habitus in the methodology considerably improved the accuracy of weight estimations.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this paper, an expert panel from 27 countries and 6 continents with considerable experience of direct application of PoCUS on COVID-19 patients presents evidence-based consensus using GRADE methodology for the quality of evidence and an expedited, modified-Delphi process for the strength of expert consensus.
Journal ArticleDOI
The accuracy of emergency weight estimation systems in children—a systematic review and meta-analysis
TL;DR: The Mercy method, the PAWPER tape and parental estimates were the most accurate weight estimation systems followed by length-based and age- based systems, and the use of age-based formulas should be abandoned because of their poor accuracy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Poor discriminatory performance of the Pediatric Risk of Mortality (PRISM) score in a South African intensive care unit
TL;DR: It appears that PRISM is not population independent, and needs to be recalibrated or recalculated for the patient population in view of the high discrepancy and poor discriminatory function shown.
