An overview on the removal of synthetic dyes from water by electrochemical advanced oxidation processes.

TL;DR: The recent trends in the field of various Electrochemical Advanced Oxidation Processes (EAOPs) used for removing dyes from water medium are provided to indicate that EAOPs constitute a promising technology for the treatment of the dye contaminated effluents.
Journal ArticleDOI

An overview of electrode materials in microbial fuel cells

TL;DR: In this article, the recent progress of anode/cathode materials and filling materials as three-dimensional electrodes for microbial fuel cells has been systematically reviewed, resulting in comprehensive insights into the characteristics, options, modifications, and evaluations of the electrode materials and their effects on different actual wastewater treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heterogeneous electro-Fenton and photoelectro-Fenton processes: A critical review of fundamental principles and application for water/wastewater treatment

TL;DR: In this article, the fundamental principles and applications of heterogeneous electrochemical wastewater treatment based on Fenton's chemistry reaction are discussed and the required features of good heterogeneous catalysts are discussed, followed by the mechanisms of catalytic activation of H2O2 to reactive oxygen species (ROS) especially hydroxyl radical ( OH) by heterogeneous catalyst in Hetero-EF system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Three-dimensional electrochemical process for wastewater treatment: A general review

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive review on the development and application of 3D electrochemical process is presented, including anode and cathode materials, particle electrode materials and their catalysts.
Journal ArticleDOI

A critical review of the application of chelating agents to enable Fenton and Fenton-like reactions at high pH values.

TL;DR: The chelating agents applied to form complexes with Fe and enable Fenton reaction at high pHs is very efficient in degrading contaminants, indicating a potential treatment approach for the pollution remediation at natural pH.
