Journal ArticleDOI
Histologic classification of thymoma: A practical guide for routine cases
TL;DR: An over- view of issues related to handling, diagnosing, and reporting of both biopsies and surgical specimens of thymomas is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tumor genetics and survival of thymic neuroendocrine neoplasms: a multi-institutional clinicopathologic study.
Philipp Ströbel,Andreas Zettl,Konstantin Shilo,Wen-Yu Chuang,Andrew G. Nicholson,Yoshihiro Matsuno,Anthony A. Gal,Rolf Hubert Laeng,Peter Engel,Carlo Capella,Mirella Marino,John K.C. Chan,Andreas Rosenwald,William D. Travis,Teri J. Franks,David Ellenberger,Inga-Marie Schaefer,Inga-Marie Schaefer,Alexander Marx +18 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the current histopathologic classifications of TNET reflect tumor biology and provide important information for therapeutic management.
Journal ArticleDOI
Micronodular thymoma: an epithelial tumour with abnormal chemokine expression setting the stage for lymphoma development
Philipp Ströbel,Mirella Marino,Martin Feuchtenberger,Anne Sophie Rouzière,Hans Peter Tony,Ulrich Wulbrand,Reinhold Förster,Andreas Zettl,Nancy L. Harris,Hans Kreipe,R. Hubert Laeng,Hans Konrad Müller-Hermelink,Alexander Marx +12 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that abnormal chemokine expression in an epithelial tumour, MNT, can promote the recruitment of MALT, the emergence of monoclonal B cells, and, eventually, the subsequent development of mediastinal lymphomas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Policies and reporting guidelines for small biopsy specimens of mediastinal masses.
Alberto M. Marchevsky,Alex Marx,Philipp Ströbel,Saul Suster,Federico Venuta,Mirella Marino,Samuel A. Yousem,Maureen F. Zakowski +7 more
TL;DR: It’s time to get used to the idea that this world is changing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human thymoma: immunologic characteristics of the lymphocytic component.
Libero Lauriola,Nicola Maggiano,Mirella Marino,Arnaldo Carbone,Mauro Piantelli,Piero Musiani +5 more
TL;DR: The observed immunologic similarities between the populations of lymphocytes from thymomas and from the normal thymus gland suggest an exclusively epithelial origin of the thymoma, possibly comparable to those of the more mature pool of normal medullary thymocytes.
