Journal ArticleDOI

Measurement of the Permanent Electric Dipole Moment of the Neutron.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the result of an experiment to measure the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the neutron at the Paul Scherrer Institute using Ramsey's method of separated oscillating magnetic fields with ultracold neutrons (UCN).
Journal ArticleDOI

Magnetic field uniformity in neutron electric dipole moment experiments

TL;DR: In this article, a general parametrization of the magnetic field in terms of harmonic polynomial modes is proposed, going beyond the linear-gradients approximation, and the main undesirable effects of nonuniformities are depolarization of ultracold neutrons and Larmor frequency shifts of neutrons, and they are verified by dedicated measurements with the single-chamber neutron electric-dipole-moment apparatus installed at the Paul Scherrer Institute.
Journal ArticleDOI

The ultracold neutron source at the Paul Scherrer Institute – Performance and status

TL;DR: The ultracold neutron (UCN) source at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) has been in regular operation for the last 7 years for up to 8 months each year as discussed by the authors.
