Evidence for a black hole from high rotation velocities in a sub-parsec region of NGC4258
Makoto Miyoshi,James M. Moran,J. R. Herrnstein,Lincoln J. Greenhill,Naomasa Nakai,Philip J. Diamond,Makoto Inoue +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present observations of rotating gas near the centre of the galaxy NGC4258 (Ml06), which indicate the presence of a mass of 3.6 x 1077solar masses in a region less than 0.13 pc in radius.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nobeyama CO Atlas of Nearby Spiral Galaxies: Distribution of Molecular Gas in Barred and Nonbarred Spiral Galaxies
Nario Kuno,Naoko Sato,Hiroyuki Nakanishi,Akihiko Hirota,Tomoka Tosaki,Yasuhiro Shioya,Kazuo Sorai,Naomasa Nakai,Kota Nishiyama,Baltsar Vila-VilarÓ +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of bar on the distribution of molecular gas in spiral galaxies using the data from a CO(1 - 0) mapping survey of 40 nearby spiral galaxies performed with the Nobeyama 45m telescope is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
X-Ray Evidence for Seyfert Activity Buried in the Infrared Galaxy NGC 4945
K. Iwasawa,Kazuya Koyama,Hisamitsu Awaki,Hideyo Kunieda,Kazuo Makishima,Takeshi Go Tsuru,Takaya Ohashi,Naomasa Nakai +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors observed the infrared galaxy NGC 4945 using the Japanese X-ray astronomy satellite, Ginga, and found that the spectrum is composed of three components: hard X-rays emission, which is heavily absorbed by cold material with column density of about 10 24.7 cm −2 ; a soft Xray component seen in the 2-10 keV band; and an iron emission line.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
BEARS. SIS 25-BEam Array Receiver System for the NRO 45-m Telescope.
Kazuyoshi Sunada,Chieko Yamaguchi,Naomasa Nakai,Kazuo Sorai,Sachiko K. Okumura,Nobuharu Ukita +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the SIS 25-BEam Array Receiver System (BEARS) is described, which is a large focal plane array receiver system for the NRO 45 m telescope.
Journal ArticleDOI
Submillimeter ALMA Observations of the Dense Gas in the Low-Luminosity Type-1 Active Nucleus of NGC 1097
Takuma Izumi,Kotaro Kohno,Sergio Martín,Daniel Espada,Nanase Harada,Satoki Matsushita,Pei-Ying Hsieh,Pei-Ying Hsieh,Jean L. Turner,David S. Meier,David S. Meier,Eva Schinnerer,Masatoshi Imanishi,Yoichi Tamura,Max T. Curran,Akihiro Doi,Kambiz Fathi,Melanie Krips,Andreas Lundgren,Naomasa Nakai,Taku Nakajima,Michael W. Regan,Kartik Sheth,Shuro Takano,Akio Taniguchi,Yuichi Terashima,Tomoka Tosaki,Tommy Wiklind +27 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the first 100 pc scale view of the dense molecular gas in the central 1.3 kpc of the type-1 Seyfert NGC 1097, traced by HCN (J = 4−3) and HCO + (J= 4-3) lines afforded with ALMA band 7.
