Gene stacking in transgenic plants: towards compliance between definitions, terminology, and detection within the EU regulatory framework
TL;DR: A comprehensive terminology regarding gene stacking with regulatory relevance is proposed, and the haploid genome equivalent is proposed as the prevailing unit of measurement at all stages throughout the chain, in order to ensure that terminology and definitions of gene stacks are adapted to analytical detection, traceability, and compliance with EU regulations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of the performance of a GMO multiplex screening assay based on microarray detection
Serge Leimanis,Sandrine Hamels,Florence Nazé,Guillaume Mbongolo Mbella,Myriam Sneyers,Rupert Hochegger,Hermann Broll,Lillian Roth,Klára Dallmann,Adrienn Micsinai,Jose Luis La Paz,Maria Pla,Claudia Brünen-Nieweler,Nina Papazova,Isabel Taverniers,Norbert Hess,Britta Kirschneit,Yves Bertheau,Colette Audeon,Valérie Laval,Ulrich Busch,Sven Pecoraro,Katrin Neumann,Sibylle Rösel,Jeroen P. van Dijk,Esther J. Kok,Gianni Bellocchi,Nicoletta Foti,Marco Mazzara,William Moens,José Remacle,Guy Van den Eede +31 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrated the validity of combining multiplex PCR with array detection as provided by the DualChip® GMO (Eppendorf, Germany) for the screening of GMO and showed that the technology is robust, practical and suitable as a screening tool.
Journal ArticleDOI
An integrated strategy combining DNA walking and NGS to detect GMOs.
Marie-Alice Fraiture,Philippe Herman,Nina Papazova,Marc De Loose,Dieter Deforce,Tom Ruttink,Nancy H. C. Roosens +6 more
TL;DR: A new version with improved throughput and sensitivity by coupling the DNA walking system to Pacific Bioscience® Next-generation sequencing technology is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Model-Based Classification for Digital PCR: Your Umbrella for Rain.
Bart K. M. Jacobs,Els Goetghebeur,Jo Vandesompele,Ariane De Ganck,Nele Nijs,Anneleen Beckers,Nina Papazova,Nancy H. C. Roosens,Lieven Clement +8 more
TL;DR: A model-based clustering method is introduced to estimate the probability that the target is present (absent) in a partition conditional on its observed fluorescence and the distributional shape in no-template control samples, providing a natural measure of precision, both at individual partition level and at the level of the global concentration.
Book ChapterDOI
Verification of Analytical Methods for GMO Testing When Implementing Interlaboratory Validated Methods
Lotte Hougs,Francesco Gatto,Ottmar Goerlich,Lutz Grohmann,Kathrin Lieske,Marco Mazzara,Frank Narendja,Jaroslava Ovesná,Nina Papazova,Ingrid M. J. Scholtens,Jana Zel +10 more
TL;DR: The scope of this document is to provide guidance on how to carry out the method verification of inter-laboratory validated methods for the qualitative and quantitative detection of GMOs.
