Journal ArticleDOI
Excessive production of interleukin 6/B cell stimulatory factor‐2 in rheumatoid arthritis
Toshio Hirano,Tadashi Matsuda,Martin R Turner,Nobuyuki Miyasaka,G Buchan,B Tang,K Sato,M Shimizu,Ravinder N. Maini,Marc Feldmann +9 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that IL6 is generated constitutively in RA and its overproduction may explain the local as well as the generalized symptoms of RA, since IL6 can function as B cell growth and differentiation factor aswell as hepatocyte‐stimulating factor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with humanized anti–interleukin-6 receptor antibody: A multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial
Norihiro Nishimoto,Kazuyuki Yoshizaki,Nobuyuki Miyasaka,Kazuhiko Yamamoto,Shinichi Kawai,Tsutomu Takeuchi,Jun Hashimoto,Junichi Azuma,Tadamitsu Kishimoto +8 more
TL;DR: Treatment with MRA was generally well tolerated and significantly reduced the disease activity of RA, and the adverse events were not dose dependent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Study of active controlled monotherapy used for rheumatoid arthritis, an IL-6 inhibitor (SAMURAI): evidence of clinical and radiographic benefit from an x ray reader-blinded randomised controlled trial of tocilizumab
Norihiro Nishimoto,Jun Hashimoto,Nobuyuki Miyasaka,Kazuhiko Yamamoto,Shinichi Kawai,Tsutomu Takeuchi,Norikazu Murata,Désirée van der Heijde,Tadamitsu Kishimoto +8 more
TL;DR: Tocilizumab monotherapy was generally well tolerated and provided radiographic benefit in patients with RA and improved signs and symptoms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nitric oxide production and inducible nitric oxide synthase expression in inflammatory arthritides
Hiroaki Sakurai,H Kohsaka,M F Liu,H Higashiyama,Yukio Hirata,Kazuo Kanno,I Saito,Nobuyuki Miyasaka +7 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that NO is produced primarily by CD14+ synoviocytes, chondrocytes, and endothelial cells in inflammatory joints of arthritides, and can be upregulated by cytokines present in inflamed joints.
Journal ArticleDOI
Disruption of the Bcl6 Gene Results in an Impaired Germinal Center Formation
Tetsuya Fukuda,Takehiko Yoshida,Seiji Okada,Masahiko Hatano,Tohru Miki,Kazuki Ishibashi,Shinichiro Okabe,Haruhiko Koseki,Shinsaku Hirosawa,Masaru Taniguchi,Nobuyuki Miyasaka,Takeshi Tokuhisa +11 more
TL;DR: Bcl6 is essential for the differentiation of GC B cells, and its products are expressed highly in germinal center (GC) B cells.
