Journal ArticleDOI
Maximum organic loading rate for the single-stage wet anaerobic digestion of food waste.
Norio Nagao,Nobuyuki Tajima,Minako Kawai,Chiaki Niwa,Norio Kurosawa,Tatsushi Matsuyama,Fatimah Md-D. Yusoff,Tatsuki Toda +7 more
TL;DR: A theoretical maximum OLR of 10.5 kg-VS (17.0 kg-COD) m(-3) day(-1) was obtained for mesophilic single-stage wet anaerobic digestion that is able to maintain a stable operation with high methane yield and VS reduction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sterol 14-Demethylase P450 (P45014DM*) Is One of the Most Ancient and Conserved P450 Species
Yuri Aoyama,Mitsuhide Noshiro,Osamu Gotoh,Susumu Imaoka,Yoshihiko Funae,Norio Kurosawa,Tadao Horiuchi,Yuzo Yoshida +7 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that P45014DM may be an ancient P450 which arose before the divergence of major eukaryotic branches and has been conserved throughout evolution, and the first example of orthologous P450s occurring in distinct kingdoms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sulfurisphaera ohwakuensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel extremely thermophilic acidophile of the order Sulfolobales.
Norio Kurosawa,Yuko H. Itoh,Toshie Iwai,Akihiko Sugai,Ikuko Uda,Naohiro Kimura,Tadao Horiuchi,Toshihiro Itoh +7 more
TL;DR: Three spherical thermoacidophilic archaea obtained from acidic hot springs located in Ohwaku Valley, Hakone, Japan are described as members of the new genus Sulfurisphaera, and the type strain is TA-1T (= IFO 15161T).
Journal ArticleDOI
Homologous recombination of exogenous DNA with the Sulfolobus acidocaldarius genome: Properties and uses
Norio Kurosawa,Dennis W. Grogan +1 more
TL;DR: Pyr+ transformants were recovered in which this codon was converted to each of the alternatives encoded by the oligonucleotide mixtures, thereby identifying five amino acid substitutions tolerated at this position of the thermostable enzyme.
Journal ArticleDOI
The structure of the core polyol of the ether lipids from Sulfolobus acidocaldarius.
Akihiko Sugai,Rie Sakuma,Ikuko Fukuda,Norio Kurosawa,Yuko H. Itoh,Kazuo Kon,Susumu Ando,Toshihiro Itoh +7 more
TL;DR: The calditol with an ether linkage in the molecule suggested an important role regarding the properties of heat-resistance and acid-res resistance observed inSulfolobales.
