Journal ArticleDOI
Capacitance free generation and detection of subpicosecond electrical pulses on coplanar transmission lines
Daniel R. Grischkowsky,Mark B. Ketchen,Cheng-Chung Chi,Irl N. Duling,Naomi J. Halas,Jean-Marc Halbout,P.G. May +6 more
TL;DR: Ketchen et al. as discussed by the authors showed that to first order, the sliding-contact generation site has no capacitance, and this conclusion was further supported by a double sliding contact experiment where, to first-order, neither the generation nor the detection site has any capacitance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Noncontact high-speed waveform measurements with the picosecond photoelectron scanning electron microscope
TL;DR: In this article, the electron gun and beam blanking system of a conventional voltage contrast scanning electron microscope was replaced by a pulse-laser/photocathode combination, resulting in a source producing electron pulses of order 1 ps in duration at a 100 MHz repetition rate and with a peak brightness of 3 10/sup 8/A/cm/sup 2/ sr at 1.8 keV.

Picosecond Electrical Pulse for VLSI Electronics Characterization
Jean-Marc Halbout,P.G. May,Mark B. Ketchen,H. Jackel,Guann-Pyng Li,Cheng-Chung Chi,Michael R. Scheuermann,M. Smyth +7 more
TL;DR: The photoconductive sampling technique is particularly attractive for silicon device characterization with a comparable sensitivity and time resolution and a better amplitude calibration and reproducibility as the sampling geometry is defined by the lithography itself.
