Strongly Non-linear Energetic Particle Dynamics in ASDEX Upgrade Scenarios with Core Impurity Accumulation
Ph. Lauber,Benedikt Geiger,Gergely Papp,Gabor Por,L. Guimarais,P. Zs. Poloskei,V. Igochine,M. Maraschek,G. I. Pokol,T. Hayward-Schneider,Zhixin Lu,X. Wang,Alberto Bottino,F. Palermo,I. Novikau,G. D. Conway,Alessandro Biancalani,'Nled' Team +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a new scenario on ASDEX upgrade for the dedicated investigation of energetic particle (EP) physics has been developed, which is unique in two aspects: first, the neutral beam induced fast-ion beta is comparable to the background plasma β, and secondly, the ratio of the fast ion energy to the thermal background is of the order 100.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reducing systematic errors in time-frequency resolved mode number analysis
L. Horvath,P. Zs. Poloskei,Gergely Papp,M. Maraschek,K.-H. Schuhbeck,Gergö Pokol,EUROfusion Mst Team +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of phase differences between transfer functions of different magnetic pick-up coils on mode number analysis in magnetically confined fusion plasmas has been investigated and a correction based on the transfer functions was applied to the residuals of mode number fitting in the considered discharges.

Wolf +38 more
TL;DR: The first fast ion experiments in Wendelstein 7-X were performed in 2018 as mentioned in this paper, where the fast ions were produced with a neutral beam injection (NBI) system and detected with infrared cameras (IR), a fast ion loss detector (FILD), fast ion charge exchange spectroscopy (FIDA), and post-mortem analysis of plasma facing components.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reducing systematic errors in time-frequency resolved mode number analysis
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of phase differences in the transfer functions of different magnetic pick-up coils on mode number analysis in magnetically confined fusion plasmas is described, and the authors present the first in-situ, end-to-end calibration of a magnetic pickup coil system which was carried out by using an in-vessel driving coil on ASDEX Upgrade.
