Journal ArticleDOI
The situation of common wheat rusts in the Southern Cone of America and perspectives for control
Silvia Germán,Amarilis Labes Barcellos,Márcia Soares Chaves,M. M. Kohli,Pablo Eduardo Campos,Lidia de Viedma. +5 more
TL;DR: Avoiding the use of highly susceptible cultivars appears to be an effective strategy to prevent stripe rust epidemic development in the Southern Cone, and the possible introduction of stem rust with Sr31 virulence from Africa is of great concern.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of leaf rust resistance genes in selected Argentinean bread wheat cultivars by gene postulation and molecular markers
Leonardo Sebastián Vanzetti,Pablo Eduardo Campos,Melina Demichelis,Lucio Andres Lombardo,Paola Romina Aurelia,Luis María Vaschetto,Carlos Tomas Bainotti,Marcelo Helguera +7 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that combinations including seedling resistance genes like Lr16, Lr47, LR19, L r41, Ll21, Lm21, lr41, and Lr21, with adult plant resistance genes such as Lr34, SV2,Lr46 will probably provide durable and effective resistance to leaf rust in the region.
Journal ArticleDOI
Registration of ‘BIOINTA 2004’ Wheat
Carlos Tomas Bainotti,Jorge Alberto Fraschina,Jose Hector Salines,J. Nisi,Jorge Dubcovsky,Silvina Lewis,L. Bullrich,Leonardo Sebastián Vanzetti,M. Cuniberti,Pablo Eduardo Campos,Maria Beatriz Formica,B. Masiero,Enrique Javier Alberione,Marcelo Helguera +13 more
TL;DR: 'BIOINTA 2004' (Reg. No. CV-1030, PI 655312) is a hard red winter wheat developed and released by the Marcos Juarez Experimental Station from the National Wheat Breeding Program of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology, Argentina.
Journal ArticleDOI
How leaf rust disease and its control with fungicides affect dough properties, gluten quality and loaf volume under different N rates in wheat
María Constanza Fleitas,María Constanza Fleitas,Matías Schierenbeck,Matías Schierenbeck,Guillermo Sebastián Gerard,Guillermo Sebastián Gerard,Juan Ignacio Dietz,Juan Ignacio Dietz,Silvina Inés Golik,Pablo Eduardo Campos,María Rosa Simón +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of leaf rust, its control using fluxapyroxad (SDHI) and the interaction with nitrogen (N) fertilization on breadmaking quality of wheat were investigated.
Are rust pathogens under control in the Southern Cone of South America
TL;DR: Testing and selection for resistance in Kenya, facilitated by the Borlaug Global Rust Initiative, is highly relevant for research aimed at preventing epidemics, which may occur if these races migrate, or are accidentally introduced to the authors' region.
