Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a Best Evidence Statement for the Use of Pressure Therapy for Management of Hypertrophic Scarring
TL;DR: Treatment with pressure therapy does improve outcomes, particularly for aesthetic concerns including scar thickness and erythema, and the practical treatment recommendations presented may improve consistency and efficacy of pressure therapy utilization at the point of care.
Journal ArticleDOI
Practice guidelines for the application of nonsilicone or silicone gels and gel sheets after burn injury.
Bernadette Nedelec,Alissa Carter,Lisa Forbes,Shu-Chuan Chen Hsu,Margaret McMahon,Ingrid Parry,Colleen M. Ryan,M. Serghiou,Jeffrey C. Schneider,Patricia A Sharp,Ana de Oliveira,Jill Boruff +11 more
TL;DR: This review provides evidence based recommendations, specifically for the rehabilitation interventions required for the treatment of aberrant wound healing after burn injury with gels or gel sheets.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of positioning devices and pressure therapy on outcome after full-thickness burns of the neck.
TL;DR: The number of factors present which inhibited both positioning and application of pressure to the neck was found to be significantly related to the need for neck reconstruction, and delayed pressure and positioning of the neck after skin grafting result in an earlier and more frequent need forneck reconstruction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Systematic Review and Expert Consensus on the Use of Orthoses (Splints and Casts) with Adults and Children after Burn Injury to Determine Practice Guidelines.
Ingrid Parry,Jeffrey C. Schneider,Miranda Yelvington,Patricia A Sharp,M. Serghiou,Colleen M. Ryan,Elizabeth Richardson,Kara Pontius,Jonathan Niszczak,Jonathan Niszczak,Margaret McMahon,Lori E. TL;DR: Due to the low level of evidence in the available literature, only one practice guideline could be recommended: orthotic use should be considered as a treatment choice for improving ROM or reducing contracture in adults who have sustained a burn injury.
