Gene therapy for pancreatic cancer--current and prospective strategies.
TL;DR: With approximately two-thirds of all gene therapy trials worldwide directed at cancer, the gene therapy approaches that are currently being explored for pancreatic cancer are specifically examined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immediate surgery compared with short-course neoadjuvant gemcitabine plus capecitabine, FOLFIRINOX, or chemoradiotherapy in patients with borderline resectable pancreatic cancer (ESPAC5): a four-arm, multicentre, randomised, phase 2 trial.
Paula Ghaneh,D. D. Palmer,Silvia Cicconi,Richard J. Jackson,Christopher Halloran,Charlotte L. Rawcliffe,Raj Sripadam,Som D. Mukherjee,Zahir Soonawalla,Jonathan Wadsley,A. Al-Mukhtar,Euan J. Dickson,Janet Graham,Long R. Jiao,Harpreet Wasan,Iain S. Tait,Andreas Prachalias,Paul Ross,Juan W. Valle,Derek A. Roberts,Yuk Ting Ma,Christoph Springfeld,Christine Tjaden,Thilo Hackert,Markus W. Büchler,John P. Neoptolemos +34 more
TL;DR: The ESCAC-5f trial as mentioned in this paper evaluated the feasibility and efficacy of three different types of short-course neoadjuvant therapy compared with immediate surgery in patients with borderline resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
PANasta Trial; Cattell Warren versus Blumgart techniques of panreatico-jejunostomy following pancreato-duodenectomy: Study protocol for a randomized controlled trial
Christopher Halloran,Christopher Halloran,Kellie Platt,Abbie Gerard,Fotis Polydoros,Derek A. O'Reilly,Dhanwant Gomez,Andrew M Smith,John P. Neoptolemos,John P. Neoptolemos,Zahir Soonwalla,Mark A. Taylor,Jane M Blazeby,Paula Ghaneh,Paula Ghaneh +14 more
TL;DR: The PANasta trial is the first multi-center randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing two types of duct-to-mucosa pancreatic anastomosis with surgical quality assurance and the hypothesis to be tested is that a Blumgart anastmosis will reduce fistula rate from 20 to 10 %.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatic intra-arterial delivery of a retroviral vector expressing the cytosine deaminase gene, controlled by the CEA promoter and intraperitoneal treatment with 5-fluorocytosine suppresses growth of colorectal liver metastases.
M J Humphreys,Paula Ghaneh,William Greenhalf,Fiona Campbell,TM Clayton,P Everett,BE Huber,CA Richards,M. J. Ford,John P. Neoptolemos +9 more
TL;DR: The CEA-CD-113 retroviral vector containing the cytosine deaminase gene controlled by the CEA specific tumour cell promoter, was shown in vitro to convert 5-fluorocytosine to 5- fluorouracil, resulting in cancer cell killing with a large bystander effect, support the development of this approach for patient treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Conclusions from the European Study Group for Pancreatic Cancer adjuvant trial of chemoradiotherapy and chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer.
Paula Ghaneh,John P. Neoptolemos +1 more
TL;DR: The main trials of adjuvant chemotherapy, chemoradiotherapy, and chemoradaotherapy with follow-on chemotherapy are described and the results of the European Study Group for Pancreatic Cancer (ESPAC) 1 trial and the status of the ESPAC 2 and 3 trials are presented.
