Journal ArticleDOI
Metabolite profiling, antioxidant and antibacterial activities of Brazilian propolis : Use of correlation and multivariate analyses to identify potential bioactive compounds
Mara L.F. Bittencourt,Paulo R. Ribeiro,Paulo R. Ribeiro,Rosana Franco,Henk W. M. Hilhorst,Renato Delmondez de Castro,Luzimar Gonzaga Fernandez +6 more
TL;DR: Different sets of metabolites are shown to correlate with the antibacterial activity of the extracts, which is largely dependent on the type of microorganism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physiological and biochemical responses of Ricinus communis seedlings to different temperatures: a metabolomics approach
Paulo R. Ribeiro,Paulo R. Ribeiro,Luzimar Gonzaga Fernandez,Renato Delmondez de Castro,Wilco Ligterink,Henk W. M. Hilhorst +5 more
TL;DR: The results show that a specific balance between amino acids, carbohydrates and organic acids in the cotyledons and roots seems to be an important trait for faster and more efficient growth of genotype MPA11, the main biochemical response to support growth at higher temperatures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical constituents of the oilseed crop Ricinus communis and their pharmacological activities: A review
TL;DR: The potential to inhibit or prevent bacterial and fungal growth is the most extensively studied pharmacological activity of R. communis extracts, but many other activities are attributed to them, such as cytotoxicity, antioxidant, insecticidal, antiasthmatic, anti-inflammatory and many others as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of antioxidant and antimicrobial compounds from the oilseed crop Ricinus communis using a multiplatform metabolite profiling approach
Perla M. Santos,Danilo L. J. Batista,Luiz A.F. Ribeiro,Elisângela F. Boffo,Martins Dias de Cerqueira,Dirceu Martins,Renato Delmondez de Castro,Lourdes C. de Souza-Neta,Ernani Pinto,Leonardo Zambotti-Villela,Pio Colepicolo,Luzimar Gonzaga Fernandez,Gisele André Baptista Canuto,Paulo R. Ribeiro +13 more
Journal ArticleDOI
1H NMR-based metabolite profiling for biomarker identification.
TL;DR: This review critically discusses recent findings of urine (non-invasive) and blood serum and plasma (minimally invasive) metabolomics, focusing on key role of metabolites and their use as potential biomarkers for diagnostic purposes.
