Journal ArticleDOI

Ultrahigh-power micrometre-sized supercapacitors based on onion-like carbon

TL;DR: This work demonstrates microsupercapacitors with powers per volume that are comparable to electrolytic capacitors, capacitances that are four orders of magnitude higher, and energies per volume higher than conventional supercapacitor.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solvent effect on the ion adsorption from ionic liquid electrolyte into sub-nanometer carbon pores

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of ion size on capacitance behavior of TiC-derived carbon (CDC) powders in the ethyl-methylimmidazolium-bis(trifluoromethane-sulfonyl)imide ionic liquid (EMI, TFSI) used as neat electrolyte at 60°C or as salt dissolved in acetonitrile and tested at room temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI

Continuous carbide-derived carbon films with high volumetric capacitance

TL;DR: In this paper, continuous carbide-derived carbon (CDC) films can be synthesized on various substrates by dry etching, showing high volumetric capacitance of ∼180 F cm−3 in 1.5 M TEABF4/acetonitrile electrolyte.
Journal ArticleDOI

Micro-supercapacitors from carbide derived carbon (CDC) films on silicon chips

TL;DR: In this article, an on-chip micro-supercapacitors based on carbide derived carbon (CDC) films were fabricated and tested. And the authors provided a pathway for fabricating pure carbon-based micro-capACs by micro-fabrication and can be used for powering microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and electronic devices.
