The cardiovascular health study: Design and rationale
Linda P. Fried,Nemat O. Borhani,Paul L. Enright,Curt D. Furberg,Julius M. Gardin,Richard A. Kronmal,Lewis H. Kuller,Teri A. Manolio,Maurice B. Mittelmark,Anne B. Newman,Daniel H. O'Leary,Bruce M. Psaty,Pentti M. Rautaharju,Russell P. Tracy,Philip G. Weiler +14 more
TL;DR: These examinations in CHS permit evaluation of CVD risk factors in older adults, particularly in groups previously under-represented in epidemiologic studies, such as women and the very old.
Journal ArticleDOI
Normal ecg standards for infants and children
André Davignon,André Davignon,Pentti M. Rautaharju,Pentti M. Rautaharju,Edna Boisselle,Edna Boisselle,François Soumis,François Soumis,Marguerite Mégélas,Marguerite Mégélas,André Choquette,André Choquette +11 more
TL;DR: Normal ECG values were determined using computer-assisted measurement of the ECGs of 2,141 white children aged 0 to 16 years divided into 12 age groups, taking into account the evolution of ECG patterns with age.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stress distribution within the left ventricular wall approximated as a thick ellipsoidal shell
TL;DR: A formula is derived for the stress distribution within the myocardium which is assumed to be an isotropic, homogeneous, elastic medium, and this expression is generalized so that it is applicable for the left ventricule which is assuming as either a spherical thick shell, or an ellipsoidalshell, or a paraboloid of revolution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic value of exercise electrocardiogram in men at high risk of future coronary heart disease: Multiple risk factor intervention trial experience
Pentti M. Rautaharju,Ronald J. Prineas,William J. Eifler,Curt D. Furberg,James D. Neaton,Richard S. Crow,Jeremiah Stamler,Jeffrey A. Cutler +7 more
TL;DR: Exercise testing may be indicated for improved risk assessment and the assessment of the significance of minor rest electrocardiographic abnormalities in middle-aged men with elevated levels of coronary heart disease risk factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of best electrocardiographic leads for diagnosing myocardial infarction by statistical analysis of body surface potential maps
Fred Kornreich,Fred Kornreich,Pentti M. Rautaharju,Pentti M. Rautaharju,James W. Warren,James W. Warren,Terrence J. Montague,Terrence J. Montague,B. Milan Horacek,B. Milan Horacek +9 more
TL;DR: Body surface potential map data from 361 subjects were used to identify optimal subsets of leads and features to distinguish 184 normal subjects from 177 patients with myocardial infarction.
