TL;DR: The resemblance between obese sleepy patients and Joe, the sleepy character in Dickens’s book The Pickwickian Papers was first alluded to in the medical literature toward the end of the 19th century, and it has been established that despite similar presenting symptoms and patterns of sleep-disordered breathing, some patients also have chronic daytime hypoventilation.

TL;DR: Cognitive asymmetry after awakening from REM and NONREM sleep as a function of time after the awakening and handedness is investigated and left-handers did not show any consistent shifts in cognitive asymmetric after the awakenings.
