Carroll,Sandrine Essouri,Heidi J. Dalton,Duncan Macrae,Yolanda Lopez-Cruces,Miriam Santschi,R. Scott Watson,Melania M. Bembea,Pediat Acute Lung Injury Consensus +28 more
TL;DR: The Pediatric Acute Lung Injury Consensus Conference developed pediatric-specific definitions for acute respiratory distress syndrome and recommendations regarding treatment and future research priorities intended to promote optimization and consistency of care for children with Pediatrics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chest electrical impedance tomography examination, data analysis, terminology, clinical use and recommendations: consensus statement of the TRanslational EIT developmeNt stuDy group
Inéz Frerichs,Marcelo B. P. Amato,Anton H. van Kaam,David G. Tingay,Zhanqi Zhao,Bartłomiej Grychtol,Marc Bodenstein,Hervé Gagnon,Stephan H. Lionheart,Thomas Riedel,Peter C. Rimensberger,Fernando Suarez Sipmann,Norbert Weiler,Hermann Wrigge +25 more
TL;DR: A new classification of core processes involved in chest EIT examinations and data analysis is provided, and a structured framework to categorise and understand the relationships among analysis approaches and their clinical roles is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
The open lung during small tidal volume ventilation: concepts of recruitment and "optimal" positive end-expiratory pressure.
TL;DR: The observation that ventilation occurs on the deflation limb of the tidal cycle-specific PV curve allows placement of the ventilatory cycle, by means of a recruitment maneuver, onto the deflation limbs of the PV envelope of the optimally recruited lung.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recommendations for mechanical ventilation of critically ill children from the Paediatric Mechanical Ventilation Consensus Conference (PEMVECC)
Martin C. J. Kneyber,Martin C. J. Kneyber,Daniele De Luca,Daniele De Luca,Edoardo Calderini,Pierre Henri Jarreau,Etienne Javouhey,Jesús López-Herce,Jesús López-Herce,Jürg Hammer,Duncan Macrae,Dick G. Markhorst,Alberto Medina,Martí Pons-Òdena,Fabrizio Racca,Gerhard K. Wolf,Paolo Biban,Joe Brierley,Peter C. Rimensberger +18 more
TL;DR: These recommendations should help to harmonise the approach to paediatric mechanical ventilation and can be proposed as a standard-of-care applicable in daily clinical practice and clinical research.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment of a persistent postoperative chylothorax with somatostatin
TL;DR: The case of a 4-month-old boy who underwent a Senning procedure for correction of D-transposition of the great vessels, where a persistent postoperative chylothorax developed, necessitating continuous drainage, is reported.
