Chest electrical impedance tomography examination, data analysis, terminology, clinical use and recommendations: consensus statement of the TRanslational EIT developmeNt stuDy group
Inéz Frerichs,Marcelo B. P. Amato,Anton H. van Kaam,David G. Tingay,Zhanqi Zhao,Bartłomiej Grychtol,Marc Bodenstein,Hervé Gagnon,Stephan H. Bohm,Eckhard Teschner,Ola Stenqvist,Tommaso Mauri,Vinicius Torsani,Luigi Camporota,Andreas Schibler,Gerhard K. Wolf,Diederik Gommers,Steffen Leonhardt,Andy Adler,Eddy Fan,William R. B. Lionheart,Thomas Riedel,Peter C. Rimensberger,Fernando Suarez Sipmann,Norbert Weiler,Hermann Wrigge +25 more
TL;DR: A new classification of core processes involved in chest EIT examinations and data analysis is provided, and a structured framework to categorise and understand the relationships among analysis approaches and their clinical roles is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute lung injury in pediatric intensive care in Australia and New Zealand: a prospective, multicenter, observational study.
Simon Erickson,Andreas Schibler,Andrew Numa,Gabrielle Nuthall,Michael Yung,Elaine M. Pascoe,Barry Wilkins +6 more
TL;DR: Ventilatory variables and indexes of lung severity were significantly associated with mortality and higher maximum and median tidal volumes were associated with reduced mortality, even when corrected for severity of lung disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Randomized Trial of High-Flow Oxygen Therapy in Infants with Bronchiolitis
Donna Franklin,Franz E Babl,Luregn J. Schlapbach,Ed Oakley,Simon Craig,Jocelyn Neutze,Jeremy Furyk,John F. Fraser,Mark Jones,Jennifer A. Whitty,Stuart R Dalziel,Andreas Schibler +11 more
TL;DR: Among infants with bronchiolitis who were treated outside an ICU, those who received high‐flow oxygen therapy had significantly lower rates of escalation of care due to treatment failure than those in the group that received standard oxygen therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reduced intubation rates for infants after introduction of high-flow nasal prong oxygen delivery
TL;DR: HFNP therapy has dramatically changed ventilatory practice in infants <24 months of age in this institution, and appears to reduce the need for intubation in infants with viral bronchiolitis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mortality related to invasive infections, sepsis, and septic shock in critically ill children in Australia and New Zealand, 2002-13: a multicentre retrospective cohort study.
Luregn J. Schlapbach,Luregn J. Schlapbach,Lahn Straney,Janet Alexander,Graeme MacLaren,Graeme MacLaren,Graeme MacLaren,Marino Festa,Andreas Schibler,Andreas Schibler,Anthony Slater +10 more
TL;DR: Severe infections remain a major cause of mortality in paediatric ICUs, representing a major public health problem, and future studies should focus on patients with the highest risk of poor outcome, and assess the effectiveness of present sepsis interventions in children.
